23.01.2022 Crikey! Hard to believe the personal contact we enjoy so much with our valued clients has been suspended. We miss you and hope it will end soon. To bridge the distance until we can meet again, we have decided to put together some special packages of special wines at special prices, our ‘Bridge the Gap' offer. Regrettably, Robinsons are unable to be part of this one but the remaining SIX will try just a little harder to bridge that gap. Some new releases and some old favour...ites, and a reminder of happier times with a promise they will return. We look forward to seeing you soon, but in the meantime stay happy and stay safe. Follow the link for more details. https://mailchi.mp//magnificent-seven-bridge-the-gap-wine- This offer expires 31/5/20.

23.01.2022 Happy Birthday group at Bungawarra yesterday sheltering from the rain. Lovely lively ladies. Enjoy the Gewurz, Ruth!

21.01.2022 The 2016 Vintage is now safely behind us and we can relax a little. Winter is here, so colour me frosty! The vintage itself was unusual - we had to pick early because of a combination of events. A warm summer with strong, hot, drying winds ripened the fruit early and dried it out. Add to this the pressure from the local terrorists (the deer and birds) and my hand was forced. The whites were excellent, though smaller in tonnage. The reds are in barrel and seem promising at th...Continue reading

21.01.2022 Unusual season following another unusual season - our extended warm, wet summer has become a warm, damp, cloudy winter. Patches of sunlight and cold - nothing lasting more than a few days. The red wines in barrel have finished their second ferment, which in past years can take several months longer (due to cold). So there are some benefits.

21.01.2022 Bungawarra at Thredbo

21.01.2022 Thank you Cedar & Pine Bar, Wynnum, Brisbane for stocking Bungawarra Wines. They ordered our Semillion, Gewurztraminer and Cabernet Sauvignon.

20.01.2022 A little publicity for the current production at Stanthorpe Little Theatre - a double bill of two funny one-act plays by Australian authors with all-female casts. Chook Chook and Classic Claustrophobia will have you in stitches - I've sat in on rehearsals, and the gags work every time for me. Friday and Saturday performances start at 7:00 pm, Sunday at 6:00 (July 10 - 12). Come from 5:15 on the Sunday for a free bowl of soup! Tickets are $20 adult, with concessions available.

19.01.2022 What a killer of a season! Hot and dry ... we just used the last of our dam water for irrigation this week. Probably need to use the lagoon for the first time, but preserve some for the wild life. Much of the Cabernet hasn't set fruit this year, but the other varieties seem OK. Storm predictions this week have come to nothing, but today looks promising ... and the Koel (storm bird) just started his crazy call an hour ago!!

19.01.2022 What a week! Fires raging and spreading for 4 days now, but the RFS has done a wonderful job in containing it. Quite a distance from Bungawarra, but many friends live up there at Eukey. Our director for our Shakespeare play, Measure for Measure, is one of them and we missed him Tues night at rehearsal as the fire was close to his home. Major Dress Rehearsal tonight, then Opening Night tomorrow Friday. Woohoo!!!

19.01.2022 Picking and crushing at the moment. Busy time for us all....

19.01.2022 Getting close now. September 19 sees me heading to China with family for 2 weeks, to catch up with son Tom and his family in Shanghai. Starting to read up on our schedule - such a big and varied country with so much history. A bit daunting to a boy from Ballandean, but I'll get used to it!

18.01.2022 We are very happy to announce that the Cellar Door is open to the public for tasting and sales! No more than 10 people allowed in the cellar door at a time so booking is essential. We are complying with the current COVID-19 safety measures to keep all visitors safe. Social Distancing will be practised in a warm and inviting setting. 18.01.2022 We have discovered this excellent cheese, D'Affinois, which goes so well with Bungawarra Wines. Peter Gross, from Black Pearl Epicure, also imports truffles, caviar and other fine foods. We are hoping that he will become an accomplice of the Magnificent 7 at one of our future events! Thank you, Peter!

17.01.2022 With Veronica Hammond, a guiding light to the Stanthorpe Little Theatre and its most generous spirit, from a Shakespeare rehearsal here at Bungawarra. Greatly loved, greatly missed but always with us.

16.01.2022 Complete reversal in weather here now (see below). It seems to rain 3 or 4 days a week, with some spectacular storms. Had over 80 mm rain since Nov 21, including damaging hail, then yesterday we had the grand daddy of them all. More hail, cyclonic winds and 116 mm rain. Lots of damage this time - grapes, trellissing, erosion, some of my nicest trees. Mother Nature does this sometimes, so that we don't get complacent and take her for granted. But a friendly little email from her would have been enough ...

15.01.2022 Kind of a birthday for me today. The beginning of a new life for me on 23 August 1993, here at Bungawarra (I guess that makes me 23 y.o. - I wish!). Seems like yesterday when son Tom and I arrived. So much has happened in that time, all irreplaceable!! Some great vintages and a glass or two consumed as well. Cheers!

14.01.2022 Time to relax a bit. The fires are out, Girraween National Park is functioning again and we can relax after 4 successful productions of our Shakespeare under the Stars event. Measure for Measure was a success by any measure. Three productions at Bungawarra and one at Tenterfield School of Arts, with some weather interruptions on the Fri and Sat nights which did not dampen anyone's enthusiasm - cast and audience alike. Recoup, recover, revive. We'll do it again next year!

12.01.2022 Crushed the last of this vintage yesterday, some lovely quality Cab. Sauv. and Shiraz. We picked a little earlier this year because prolonged dry, hot, windy weather forced an earlier ripening. Birds and deer stepped up the pressure too, so the drama deepened and our window narrowed. Done now, and so the fun begins. Ferments, filtering - and a fine wine at the end. Woohooo 2016!!

10.01.2022 It has been a very busy season here at Bungawarra. The beautiful rain in spring set us up for a near record crop, which needed a lot of attention. The rain kept coming at perfect intervals, the brief heat wave we had in late January was easily handled by irrigation (dams were full) and we harvested our excellent whites from mid-February to early March. Then the rain wouldn't stop. Wet, wet, wet ... with a cyclone to finish the month. We were picking the reds in gumboots! An exhausting time and a long season because of the large crop. Worth all the hard work - it will be a very good vintage.

08.01.2022 Standing here in light rain under a Crepe Myrtle groaning under the weight of its blooms. Barely alive only a month ago. Vineyard a lush green with new growth in background. Our world now bursting with life and energy thanks to all the recent rain! After a lean year weve now had a miracle month !!

06.01.2022 Back from China with great memories and some stunning photos. The chronic amazement will take a while to settle down.
