25.01.2022 Many of the children in Echidna Nook have shown an interest in mail. The children have been observed writing letters and role playing postman. We have set up pen pals locally and also interstate. Today we took a walk altogether to the post office to buy some stamps and post our letters. This appeared to be very exciting to the children and showed a sense of responsibility through them organising the letters, buying the stamps and then posting them. We look forward to watching the relationship between centres/school grow through letter writing.

20.01.2022 Bungawitta Early Learning Centre is excited to host a souperhero day to help raise money for the local Salavation Army Charity On Friday 4th August 2017. 19.01.2022 Big congratulations to Laura & her husband Gavin on the safe arrival of their gorgeous little boy George! All staff, children and families are sending lots of love & best wishes. We can not wait for you to visit. :-)

18.01.2022 Today at Bungawitta we raised money for the Salvation Army Souperhero fundraiser. We invited children and staff to dress up as a Superhero for the day. We then with the help of the children made pumpkin soup which we all enjoyed for lunch with toast. :-) Fundraiser like this support the local community and allow educators to broaden children of other organisations and charaties around their community.

18.01.2022 We are lucky to have Kristin Mathiassen joining us on a Wednesday morning to teach our children Yoga as an ongoing experience through out the centre. Angel yoga training incorporates yoga poses, meditation and affirmations into a child friendly format, using music, story, imagination, puppets and creative props. Children are guided through stories and journeys incorporating yoga poses into the stories. Breathing, relaxation and meditation exercises are also included at the beginning and end of each session. We are very excited about watching the children grow with their Yoga and form a connection with Kristin.

18.01.2022 A huge congratulations to Jaime-lee, Ryan and big sister Sienna on the birth of baby Leo. All families and children are sending all their well wishes and love and look forward to meeting your precious son soon <3

16.01.2022 This week, Joey Junction have been out on some community walks. On Thursday, they had a great time walking using the 4 seater and 2 seater prams. They waved at trucks who blew their horns back at them. They met Paul at the antique shop. They met a lady outside the grocery store who was collecting donations for Australian disability sport and she gave them all a sticker. They picked some flowers and stopped for a drink as well as spotting a bus. The neighbourhood walks are a wonderful way for our children to recognise that they belong and are part of a wider community outside of Bungawitta. This helps them broaden their understanding of the world in which they live. :-)

16.01.2022 For all those parents who come to collect their child from our centre and find they take home more than their child! Haha http://babyology.com.au//sandout-shoes-childrens-shoe-made

16.01.2022 A look into some of the exciting learning experiences we have on offer to our children.

15.01.2022 Quick snapshot of some of our most engaging and exciting learning environments.

15.01.2022 Today at Bungawitta we took Joey Junction (0-2) and Platypus Place (2-3) children for walk down to the Tafe Tasmania Library. We are extremely lucky to have such a wonderful facility in walking distance we can access. We are made to feel very welcome and are able to use all the books to read to the children and feel as though we are part of the Tafe community.

15.01.2022 Day 2 of Childrens week- Crazy hair day!

14.01.2022 Last Friday, the children of Joey Junction (0-2yr old room) and Platypus Place (2-3yr old room) helped bake some yummy date loaf to distribute to some local community organisations, known as a Gratitude plate. This plate of food was a token of our appreciation for the hard work within the community they do on a daily basis. We choose to thank and welcome our new neighbours, who are a respite care service, as well as the local city mission opportunity shop. This week, Echid...na Nook (3-5yr old room) will be taking a plate to our local TasTafe, for all the hard work they do and to say thank you for inviting us to join in on their playgroup and other events on a regular basis. This experience not only gets the chilren active within the community by walking to these venues, but gives the children a sense a belonging to a broader local community, outside Bungawitta.

14.01.2022 Today the children of Platypus Place (2-3) room were very excited about the rain and were heard having conversations about how loud it was, So what a better way to further extend on their interest than to go outside. The children were asked if they wanted to go outside and play and they were all keen to. The children took their shoes off and used their self help skills to get dressed into the puddle jumping suits. This spontaneous nature based play experience gave the children the opportunity to explore and discover new things such as the different smells in the air and how the ground feels different beneath their feet. The children were heard laughing as they jumped and splash about in the water. All the children at the service had the opportunity to come out and participate in this wonderful experience.

13.01.2022 Bungawitta is super excited to introduce our new members of our family. Ginger and Patches. The children had a great time naming and meeting them.

11.01.2022 On Friday 29th September Bungawitta held a Footy colours day to raise money for the Fight Cancer Foundation. The children and educators had fun dressing up in their favourite football teams. The bigroom had a football kicking and handball competition, decorated biscuits in their team colours and self initiated painting team flags. The younger age group spent an extended amount of time kicking balloons to each other and around the room.

11.01.2022 Today at Bungawitta, we had a minute silence at 11am for Remembrance day. We believe it is important to recognise remembrance day and pass on the knowledge of this to our children to ensure the next generation continues the respect of our fallen soldiers.

09.01.2022 Yesterday we celebrated childrens week with an under the sea day. We were very excited to have Seahorse World visit. We are doing our best to accommodate everyone ! Thanks

08.01.2022 Busy day today for Lynette and Echidna Nook, who was able to spend the day in the garden. Bungawitta finally spent the last of our maintenance grant money on some fresh sand for the sand pit, new soil for the veggie patch and mulch for our garden. I think the abundance of seeds and punnets that were purchased should keep us all busy and hopefully well fed! The garden looks great!!!

07.01.2022 Bungawitta is supporting the stance against Lowering the school age by displaying our sign. Please help us to spread the word by advocating childrens rights and being their voice. We encourage all families, educators and services to voice your concerns to all local upper house members. The list of MLC candidates can be found : http://www.parliament.tas.gov.au/lc/lclists.pdf

07.01.2022 Today one of our Educators son Luke came in to play his keyboard for the children. Luke has been playing for a year now and entered his first competition placing 2nd. All the children listened intently as Luke played a number of different songs including Old Mac Donald and Twinkle Twinkle. Children were seen moving their bodies and singing along. Then all the children were given the opportunity to have a turn on the keyboard. This was a wonderful experience and we really appreciated Luke coming in in his school holidays.

05.01.2022 Today the children from Echidna nook walked down to the Newnham Tafe Campus to attend the playgroup. The children had the opportunity to engage in lots of one on one experiences with the trainee educators and were provided with a variety of experiences. The children enjoyed exploring this new environment and engaged in dramatic play in the home corner cooking and pouring lots of cups of tea. The wooden train set was also very popular with an impressive track being constructed for the trains to travel on. The children also enjoyed being outside, riding the bikes, playing in the sand and listening to a story. The students had also provided a nutritious morning tea of fresh seasonal fruits for the children

05.01.2022 Dont forget to wear your Footy colours tomorrow to support the Fight Cancer Foundation. A donation container is set up near the childrens sign in sheets. Thank you and we look forward to seeing lots of footy supporters.

04.01.2022 Today the children of Echidna Nook ( 3-5 year olds ) have been busy making Sultana cookies to give to Danielle from Tafe Tasmania. The children presented Danielle with a Gratitude plate of cookies when she came over with some international teachers from Shandong. The teachers were here for a tour of the service and were amazed to meet our pet Guinea pigs, as they had not seen one before. Bungawitta selected Tafe Tas as a recipient of a Gratitude plate to thank them for all their hard work in running the playgroup which educators and children from Bungawitta regularly attend.

03.01.2022 Parents, We are keeping a close eye on the flood levels, and want you to know that we are in NO danger, but have concerns about possibly families and staff being able to access us as Invermay has now been informed to evacuate. In further phone calls to the SES the high way (East Tamar) is NOT in any danger of being closed. If this changes we may need to re-assess, as access to Newnham will be difficult due to road closures in Ravenswood, St Leonards and Hobblers bridge. Do not hesitate to be in touch if you have any concerns and please take note in the fact that we too will think about the best interests of children, families and staff.

02.01.2022 Today is Book Day! the children and Educators came dressed as one of their favourite book characters along with the book. We have been very busy reading. The children have seemed super excited to talk about their costumes and to listen to each others books. :-)

01.01.2022 Celebrating the final chapter of Bungawitta and celebrating the new adventures alongside Discovery ELC! Thank you to all staff, parents and the community for the constant support you have given us over the past 29.5 years.

01.01.2022 Joey Junction and Platypus Place headed off for a community walk to our local City Mission shop this morning. The children had the chance to donate some clothes and buy some resources for Bungawitta. The children are learning the importance of sustainability as well as being respectable members of our community. If any of our families or other community members have anything they would like to donate to the City Mission, please feel free to drop them off as we are hoping to make this a regular outing fo the children.
