18.01.2022 VIRTUAL STAN COSTER MEMORIALAUSTRALIA BUSH BALLAD AWARDS A big thank you to all who went to the trouble to nominate for the Stan Coster Awards. Nominations surpassed our expectations. There was a good mix of new and regular nominations, indicating that the Stan Coster Awards are still the leading Australian Bush Ballad Awards. We allowed electronic music entries for the 1st time for the 2021 awards, this proved exceptionally popular with nearly half the entries being in... this format. The muster is grateful for the support given by the independent recording companies, artists who continually support our festival and the first time entrants, the Award Judges, and others who have and continue to make this event possible in difficult times. Stay tuned to our website and Facebook for information regarding the Awards Virtual Concert and how you can see and hear some of the finalist’s and find out the ultimate winners in all 8 categories. 14.01.2022 This is wonderful news for the Bungendore and surrounding region. Totally in awe of the amazing people who put themselves between these fires and us. Whilst our heroes won’t be able to man the gates for us this year the Muster will be busy raising funds over the weekend to support them in a small but heartfelt way. So Country Music Folk - bring your coins with you.

13.01.2022 G'day all Yesterday we attended the Memorial Service for the three American fire fighting pilots who were killed when their plane crashed fighting our Peak View... fire one year ago yesterday. It was a pretty big do with a number of dignitaries including the Governor of NSW, the Honorable Margaret Beazley, representatives of the Prime Minister, Premier and a number of member of the American Embassy. I was humbled and privileged to be asked to share a poem which I had written on behalf of the local community and fire brigades. A big thanks for the enormous amount of work the Peak View Fire Brigade put into organising this event and having plaques etc installed in memory of the three pilots. It was great to see locals James and Jules, Steven and Maddie, and Brett and Jane laying official wreaths along with the official dignitories. Below is the poem I wrote for and read at the ceremony. Peak View Bushfire Memorial Poem This rocks stands as a monument To three brave heroes of our day Their commitment as solid as this rock Where their names will forever stay They flew in from the USA In Peak View’s hour of need The fire was coming from the west Fanned by winds of gale force speed They dived and bombed to quell the flames Never counting on the price To save residents and property They made the supreme sacrifice We will never get to thank them For the sacrifice they made And, we owe a debt of gratitude That can never be repaid May their souls fly high forever O’er our countryside serene May their spirits rise to see again Our blackened bush, now green They can never walk amongst us But their memories will remain In our hearts and souls forever Until we meet again Ernie Constance October 2020
