25.01.2022 Today Andy and I started to remove the old BBQ to make way for the new kids Hot Shots Court. Removal of the BBQ and the recent relocation of the pergola are part of the in kind contribution the club is making towards this project. The new mini-court is being constructed with generous funding assistance from the NSW Governments Infrastructure Grants program and support of local state member John Barilaro MP. Imagine our surprise when....... Tennis ACT Tennis NSW

25.01.2022 What do you do when work on your new 4th court, Hot Shots court and practice wall is about to start with support from our local member John Barilaro and infrastructure funding from the NSW Government? Well...at BPTC we have what’s known as a MEGA working bee! What our crew of 11 people did in two hours this morning to remove nearly 800 pavers, 14 koppers log posts and 32 metres of chicken wire was nothing short of AMAZEBALLS!! Big thanks to Lynne Butson, Mark Butson, Rosie Windsor Jewels, Mickey Gubas and son Leo, Gavin McDonald and daughter Aila, Kerrie Crane, Robert Breust, Kate Bender - and Andy Burbidge for mowing the lawn yesterday and the loan of your wheelbarrow. 24.01.2022 A right rollicking time had by many both on the courts and on the oval tonight in Bungers ...a warm welcome to newcomers Gavin, Alex and Craig...and you know what?...there was even a hint of Spring in the air... Tennis ACT Tennis NSW

24.01.2022 Congratulations Spartans So proud of Amelia, Leo and Marcus! (Have we missed any Bungendore players? Please let us know and we will amend) You are all so awesome Thank you Rising Star Tennis Academy NSW and Rising Star Tennis Academy for your coaching and support of young players

24.01.2022 Rob, one of our long time club committee members, has escaped the Bungendore winter chills and is touring sunny QLD...and you guessed it he packed his racquet. The other day he was having a hit at the Bargara tennis club with Pat and John pictured here. Now Pat, at 80 years old, is still enjoying her tennis...how many other sports can you still enjoy when youre 80?

23.01.2022 We are super excited to see Bungendore community’s new mini-court reaching the final stages of completion. Here we can see holes being drilled into the concrete for the net posts and here is the region’s best commercial electrician (club Vice President, Robert Breust) tightening off the bolts on the bespoke lighting post that was welded right here in Bungendore by local metal fabricator and welder, Wayne Gallagher. We know the community’s new mini-court and practice wall will... probably be the most used space in our upgraded tennis facility - ideal for kid’s tennis lessons, pickle ball for families and seniors just wanting some gentle exercise and fun and of course, the return of Get Your Racquet On. Not to mention just plain practising hitting the ball against the wall....for anyone!! We can’t thank the NSW Government’s Infrastructure funding program and Local member John Barilaro enough for supporting this important activity and health boosting project! Tennis ACT Tennis NSW

23.01.2022 Meet club Treasurer Kerrie wearing our new club cap. Kerrie keeps the club’s books. She prepares an up to date financial report for our regular club committee meetings and makes sure our accounts and loan repayments are paid on time and all our revenue and expenditure is properly accounted for ...all as a volunteer club committee member and all with that great big smile... thank you Kerrie Crane!!

23.01.2022 Our club volunteers dismantle, make and paint and no one typifies the volunteer spirit at our club more than our mate Andy Burbidge! That can of black paint Andys using to freshen up the old double gate was purchased with a generous discount from our friends and supporters BRural - Bungendore Rural Services Pty Ltd - thanks BRS. 23.01.2022 On Monday the club committee welcomed Colin and Mark from Tennis ACT. The committee was briefed on the club’s Venue Sustainability Rating results - the VSR measures how tennis clubs are going and helps club’s decide what to do to sustainably operate into the future. 12.01.2022 Back on the tools again this morning with Robert Breust and Dennis Humphrey. In a relatively short time Rob had cut and kanga hammered the concrete to make way for a new post for our 4th court entry and we’d found a new temporary home for our tap - away from all the action just before work starts on the club’s new Hot Shots court. This morning’s effort was completed just before it got really hot ...well done Robert and Dennis!....always a pleasure working with you! Tennis ACT Tennis NSW

12.01.2022 At BPTC, we strive to reuse and up cycle materials wherever we can - to minimise the waste going to the tip and get the most from the the generous grant funding assistance. Here you have Andy and another club volunteer priming the old double gate for reuse in the next section of fencing to go up beside the clubhouse soon. Most of the time the paint and brushes are from home...sometimes we have buy a tin of paint here and there... Big thanks go to the NSW Governments local sports club grants program for funding this project. The double gates will serve as construction access when the time comes to bull doze the old clubhouse and put up a new one. Were hoping that will happen next year! Tennis ACT Tennis NSW

12.01.2022 The rain continues to be the 13th team in the comp, some may say it seems to be favouring or disadvantaging teams, all I know is it makes the results interesting... Spring social comp round 12 results:

11.01.2022 Term 1 social comp week 7 results: So far there's been a few rain outs, some serious tennis, but most importantly a whole lot of fun tennis! Love it.

11.01.2022 Your local community tennis club has a long standing tradition - for the last week of the Spring social comp one is encouraged to dress up. Last night one lovely couple (Luke and Jane) had leopard skin outfits but I was too slow or preoccupied to get a pick...I did however get a shot of lovely Lucy and Brian just before the start of their match. Nice! Tennis ACT

11.01.2022 Things don’t always go to plan...the heavy and then steady rain on the weekend caused one third of our new 4th court to go underwater. Thanks to Good Samaritans Rob Bee assisted by partner Callie Bee the water was drained away in no time. Fingers crossed the remaining work can get back on schedule this week...although we don’t like the look of this week’s weather forecast..

11.01.2022 This morning, after a short hit, Andy and I started work to remove the old posts...really starting to open up the new space to the left of the clubhouse...really shows off the new fencing installed with the assistance of the NSW Governments Local Sports club grant program and Infigen Energys capital Community fund. Thank you!!

10.01.2022 Yes...Sheepstations may have won this year's winter comp but it was Geraldine's hand made head band that took out best headwarmer for the comp and let me tell you the competition was fierce...but don't take my word for it...see for yourself. Tennis ACT

09.01.2022 Well...thats a wrap for our winter comp! ...a rainout prevented a play-off between the top three teams and the final match between another two teams. What does that all mean? ...although we werent playing for sheep stations, Sheep Stations did in fact win the comp with a game average of 16.11 just nosing out joint second place getters Lake Road Ladies and the Bloody Benders both with a game average of 15.44. The competition continued to finish tightly pretty much all the way down through the ladder (see the scoresheet) ...but do you know what? We think that the people who brought beanie fun to the comp were the real winners. Find out who were talking about including the best beanie prize winner in next weeks Bungendore Regional Independent! Tennis ACT Tennis NSW

09.01.2022 What we love about Steve and John Fencing is they front up when they say they will and they are an all weather outfit - today they braved the cold and sleet to put up the new gate to Court 1 and installed the posts to complete the fencing to the left of the clubhouse. The new fencing establishes a new eastern perimeter to accommodate the footprint for our new clubhouse - Stage 2 of Bungendores Community Tennis Facility Upgrade project. We are very lucky to have a local co...mpany like Steve and John Fencing working with us. Were even luckier to have the support of our local member John Barilaro and NSW government local sports club grant and Infigen Capital Community program funding. Without such support wed be still having to put up with the old chook wire and koppers log fencing. Tennis ACT Tennis NSW

09.01.2022 Now in tennis everyone know’s the importance of the top of the net - a ball hit well clears the net and lands inside the court hopefully putting your opposition under enough pressure so that you win the point. If the ball catches the tape on its way over and there isn’t enough top spin, it will generally land on your side of the net in which case you lose the point. Now I can hear your interest fading ...wait for it ...Recently the stitching on the tape at the top of the net on Court 2 had begun to fail and the loose tape was creating added interest for players...that was until our friends at J&B Canvas came to the rescue and restitched the net. Big shout out to Brendon and his crew....we just love our local businesses! Tennis ACT

05.01.2022 Five weeks to go in the spring comp! I thought I’d add the rain tally in the table as it seems to be a team of its own, playing havoc with the results.
