22.01.2022 Under New Management! On April 1st, 2020 the Committee of Management for the Crown Land reserve known as Royal Park was changed from Friends of Royal Park to th...e City of Ballarat. This will allow the promised development of a multi-use facility and the long-awaited soccer pitches. Our dream has altered over time but the theme of sustainability has rung true throughout and this new facility is being designed with sustainability a key part of the process. Buninyong Sustainability will continue to use Royal Park as our home. We can now focus on delivering a beautiful community space based around the Community Garden. The old building is still open for business until the full Masterplan can be funded and we will manage bookings and our same user groups. We would like to thank everyone who has helped us over the years and shared our dream. We are excited by the new developments and can now put even more energy into promoting a better future for Buninyong. There are plans for the works to begin soon so watch this space. The City of Ballarat will be leading community engagement related to the building of the soccer pitches and the first stage of the new building. 14.01.2022 It's been quiet around town since March due to Covid-19 social distancing regulations but thankfully we have been spared any health disasters and we've learnt to adapt to the new conditions. Our schools, organisations and businesses have had to adopt new practices in the these strange times but finally the rules are easing and places are gradually starting to open up again. We hope to reopen the Buninyong Information Centre in June. We'll keep you posted.

06.01.2022 Dong! Dong! Dong! The Anglican Church bell rings out across Buninyong at noon every day now. It’s a welcome and reassuring sound for many in these days of Covid uncertainty. Rev. Mark Schnerring started ringing the church bell daily at Easter this year, then discovered that people in the village responded to it so positively that he decided to continue the practice. He canvassed nearby residents to make sure that they did not find the chimes intrusive and found that most are... heartened by the sound. Hearing the bell ring out across the village at the same time every day is comforting for many people isolated at home, helping to create a sense of caring and connectedness. You can hear a recording below. Who knew bell ringing was such hard work?!
