24.01.2022 Planet warriors in action The students from Year 3 Wolfberries had a wonderful time learning about the importance of recycling. They can tell you what to recycle, how and why it helps our planet! The class were fascinated by the particles of recycled plastic and how they are used to create new bottles. 22.01.2022 Fun in the garden with Lychees. Lychees have been working with Sue to help look after our beautiful garden and chickens. We have been watching the strawberries grow and watering them daily. Hillary Lennon | Lychees

22.01.2022 Blowing Bubbles Year 2 Watermelons experimented with mixing household objects together such as detergent and water to make bubbles. Students also investigated what happens to bubbles if they change the shape of their wand. Well it turns out that bubbles always want to be the smallest they can be and that is in the shape of a sphere. Lisa Webeck | Classroom Teacher

21.01.2022 Kinder Start Transition Program We have been working super hard to get our Kindergarten transition program underway and we are ready to meet our 2021 Kindergarten students. Kinder Start will begin next week and be held every Tuesday and Thursday in the school hall. If you have returned your enrolment pack you will receive a letter in the mail with the details and your designated day. ... If you have not returned or collected your enrolment pack then please do, we don't want your child to miss out on this great opportunity. You will need a birth certificate, immunisation certificate and 100 points of identification to show your address. If you have any questions, please call the lovely ladies in the front office. 19.01.2022 How do we get across? Cherries have been researching bridges and investigating what materials make a super strong bridge. Using paper to make a bridge was a challenge but students discovered paper could be used depending on how it was shaped and folded. Mrs Agnew | Assistant Principal

17.01.2022 Operation Christmas Child has begun! Each year, the Buninyong community comes together to help children around the world who are affected by war and or poverty. This is the time when we can acknowledge our blessings and help those less fortunate. All we ask is that you contribute items that can be put into a Class shoe box for either a boy or girl, you could even do both. Stage 3 students have been set a challenge. In response to their MAPPEN unit of learning on povert...y, child rights and welfare in our Global Community. We are asking for each student to fill their own. If you would like to accept this challenge and opportunity, please sign the permission note, sent home today and you child will receive their own shoe box and information. 10.01.2022 In somebody else’s shoes! Year 6 Bush Tucker took a deep dive into some virtual reality to experience what it is like to be a Syrian refugee. This has been a great start to our immigration, themed writing program. While we had access to this amazing technology, we took the opportunity to have some fun exploring the world of sharks, planet Mars and see famous sites in South America. This new technology was tricky to work out at first but now we have it mastered we can’t wait to see where we can go to next. Watch this space! Miss Betts | Year 6 Teacher

10.01.2022 A zoo-rific day! As part of our term 4 writing unit Kindergarten students went on a trip to the zoo. The SRC candidates will deliver speeches in the morning session on Wednesday the 2nd of December to peers and staff of Buninyong Primary school. 06.01.2022 Party time! Figs have been studying celebrations this term. They have looked at different aspects of celebrations such as dancing, dressing up, presents, decorations and party food. Today, they put together all they have learnt and held their own class party. There was great music, stylish dress ups and some super fun party games. 05.01.2022 Wild about writing! Over the last two weeks, Year 2 Wombok have been learning about information reports. Students researched tigers using Epic to find out all about their diet, habitat, appearance and other interesting facts. Using the deconstruct reconstruct, 8 Ways strategy, we worked together on descriptive paragraphs before completing our independent information reports. We did a roaring great job! 05.01.2022 Pineapples and their Bean Stalks Kindergarten have been learning about how things grow and change. Earlier in the term Kinder Pineapples germinated bean seeds in the classroom and then transferred them to the veggie garden. They have loved going out to check on their plants and water them. 04.01.2022 Touring Australia Possum Magic and the students in Figs have been travelling Australia looking for foods to make Hush visible again. So far the students have eaten scones in Brisbane, lamingtons in Hobart, vegemite sandwiches in Perth and pavlova at the very top of Australia. All the students agree, it’s been a very tasty journey! 04.01.2022 Racing Rockets In Kindergarten, this week’s STEAM lesson looked at air as a force of movement. Students constructed a straw rocket and using the force of their own breath made their rockets fly. Students then experimented to see how high they could make their rockets fly. 01.01.2022 A little tip before high school transition Year 6 transition is scheduled for a whole day visit to South and Delroy campuses on Tuesday the 1st of December. 01.01.2022 What an exciting day it was for Kinder students on Wednesday. They travelled to Wambangalang and learnt all about PAWS (Plants, Air, Water, Shelter) and how living things need to them to survive. After spending time in the bush discovering different animals and investigating their habitats they returned to find the teddies and their lunch had disappeared! After following the clues and solving the riddle they found their tricky teddies who had set a picnic lunch for them. Thank you to Mrs Coyle and Rob for joining us for a lovely day out!
