25.01.2022 Home, home on the range. It’s lovely to be transported from city life to a quiet spot, only disturbed by the sounds of animals and nature. There are places to... stay around the Macedon Ranges with varying levels of ‘Farm’ experiences. Here are some ideas for when we can travel again https://daylesfordmacedonlife.com.au//places-to-farm-stay/ Places mentioned: Fellcroft Farmstay Bunjil Farm Bringalbit Country Retreat Gisborne Peak Winery Braeside Mt Macedon Country Retreat #daylesfordmacedonlife #dreamnowdiscoverlater
24.01.2022 We were delighted to welcome to the Hemp Cottage some guests escaping Melbourne on the first weekend after lockdown. Here are some pics they took of the view from the cottage this morning.
24.01.2022 Australians have been able to legally grow hemp for 22 years. Bunjil Farm works to promote hemp to help increase consumer demand so that more farmers will grow it. We are a small scale artisan producer of hemp seed oil and have a bed and breakfast cottage with hemp walls, hemp bed linen and showcase many other hemp products. In the U.S., licensing to grow has only been in place for two years. Look at their progress. C'mon Australia! https://www.facebook.com/COHempProject/videos/4416458171762525/

18.01.2022 KYNETON STORY A little over an hour’s drive and a little over 90km from the CBD is the town of Kyneton established before the Victorian gold rush and, back th...en, a pivotal stop for intrepid diggers heading to the Castlemaine and Bendigo goldfields and anticipated fortunes. Then, the commercial hub boomed but time, population shifts and reconfigured transport options meant that Kyneton needed to adjust to a changing world. It did brilliantly. Though some local industries ceased, Kyneton remained accessible via the Calder Freeway and rail links to other centres and this meant retaining housing infrastructure and families. Within the precincts, and particularly Piper St, historical bluestone buildings, galleries, antique shops, the Kyneton Museum, the towering 150 year old Post Office and the Shamrock and Newmarket hotel present excellent tourist choices and reflect a town that is very positive and secure about its identity and future. The Rotary Club of Kyneton was chartered in 1967 and has a club member achieve the distinction of District Governor John Wigley 2005-06. Like every club, the Rotary Club of Kyneton is frustrated by having to suspend many of their endeavours. Significant among these is the Vietnam project where Year 12 students travel and stay in Vietnam for 2 weeks. They travel between Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, learn about local culture and engage in small projects which assist the local communities. The Club has also undertaken two international projects in Kenya. In one village much needed water tanks have been provided while, in a separate case, designated female e toilets have been provided for school children. Locally, the Kyneton is certainly missing the Rotary club’s monthly Community Market and, sadly, their sponsored Daffodil Festival. The Club has been prominent in significantly reinvigorating the local Scout group and providing equipment including tents and security features, supporting the rejuvenation of Kyneton’s river frontage and establishing a strong local Interact group. President Mark Ridgeway and Secretary John Wells are currently coordinating weekly ZOOM meetings, but certainly look forward returning to the iconic Shamrock Hotel Mondays 6-30 for 7.00PM when it is deemed safe to do so. Meanwhile, as we edge towards the end of restrictions, people in rural Victoria are anxious to display their wares and look to our support in helping them to ‘fire up and get moving again’. Post Covid-19, Kyneton and its very active and involved Rotary club are absolutely bursting to re-engage with their projects and their beautiful town. Everybody is encouraged to support the rural communities, and Kyneton in particular. This ‘ready to go’ eagerness is perfectly summed up in one of the Rotary Club of Kyneton’s Facebook posts ‘Make it a weekend in beautiful Kyneton. Do the markets. See the town. Do the wineries. Catch the train whatever. All only one hour from Melbourne See more

17.01.2022 Yesterday was National Ag Day, celebrating Australian agriculture. We are proud to be one small part of the agriculture production chain and we keep looking for ways to contribute to "closed loop" production. Our hemp seeds are cold pressed into a food oil and bottled. After cold pressing, there remains a meal which is highly nutritional. We sell meal to The Taproom - Shedshaker Brewing who make their "Hempathy" hemp beer to sell in bottles and on tap. The mash left over from the brewing process then goes to Oakwood Smallgoods Co. who feed it to their pigs. The salami then produced (thanks to very well cared-for pigs) goes back to the pub for their pizzas. No waste! It would be great to hear about more of these kinds of stories ... ABC News?

10.01.2022 Watching this has become an unmissable daily ritual now that a #roadmap ‘out’ has been promised for #Victoria. It is generally followed by hours of distressing ...phone calls between #hospofolk colleagues and friends - many now dispirited and truly beyond broken #supportingeachother. I send gratitude to all those burning the midnight oil on our behalf at massive meetings being held this week including Felicia Mariani CEO #VTIC, Wes Lambert CEO #RestaurantandCaterers Heartbreaking outcomes will, unfortunately, continue for #Melbourne our beautiful city, our industry, and our teams well beyond Sept 13. We are an industry with a determination to comply and a record of compliance with every necessary restriction and protocol with #nocases attributable. It’s critical that going forward Appropriate and accurate education & Global bipartisan learnings be offered for us to live appropriately WITH this pandemic in the very long term rather than have enforcement imposed. #takethecommunitywithyou We need to trust those with whom we have entrusted our health but we also need to take personal responsibility. What real cost is wearing a mask for example, against the health and economic costs of a nation. Let’s fight for the issues that matter. Let's fight together and for goodness sake let’s end the political point-scoring (from all sides) and #getonwiththejob. And soon - before things are beyond a point of no return for many. #whatsthenoreturndate - that’s the one to consider #inthetimeofcorona2020 and 2021

05.01.2022 Duck eggs given to friend, Roni, came back in spades with duck egg penne and hen egg & beetroot penne. A simple sauce of olive oil, garlic, chilli, anchovy, parsley, lemon zest and a dash of verjuice. Finely grated parmesan on top. Delish! Thank you Roni

04.01.2022 Finally the Victorian State Government Hemp Taskforce has produced an "Interim Report". It has been difficult to get anything out of them to date re terms of reference and KPIs so this is a start: https://agriculture.vic.gov.au///industrial-hemp-taskforce
04.01.2022 The road to the Hemp Cottage isn't so long. When lockdown is eased, we're a mere 50 minutes from Tullamarine Airport.
