24.01.2022 Today we welcome Eaton’s Hill State School Indigenous students from P-6 for our Camping on Country program. Students are cooking Johnny Cakes, putting up tents, playing Indigenous games before walking on Turrbal and Yuggera Country with Bec and Julie. 19.01.2022 Today I had an amazing time teaching Senior students from Mitchelton Special School all about the water cycle. We played the Whizzy’s Waterwise Quiz, investigated the properties of water in the replica catchment and finally, walked to the dam to scoop for macro-invertebrates. We found lots of fish. 16.01.2022 Problem solving uses creative thinking which is inspired by our imaginations. Young children need to free play to use their imaginations. Preps from Kelvin Grove State College have solved so many problems during our Bush Play Adventure program this week.

13.01.2022 Thank you to all Bush Explorers for an awesome Term 3. We have explored camping out, putting up our own tents, bush cooking, water play, a visit to the dam and lots more. We look forward to seeing you all after the holidays for new adventures. Our first session back is Friday, the 9th of October. Have a fun holiday everyone.

13.01.2022 Calling all Bush Explorers, tomorrow we are playing in the water. Come explore our replica water catchment...flowing water from the mountains to the mangroves. Pump the water down the gully into the lake. There’s a bubbling spring, water fall and mini-dam. Bring a change of clothes and a towel. If you have an older sibling who is now in Prep or Yr 1, who was a Bush Explorer in the past, they may visit too tomorrow . Friday 9.30-11.30am at the Centre. 13.01.2022 Windsor SS Year 2 students had a hoot learning about catchments today. At the beginning of the program, one student out of 50 said they lived in a catchment... at the end of program 32 students said they lived in a catchment . Hands on, real-life learning is GOLD .

Yr 3’s from North Lakes State College are Camping Out, Mitchy Special School Pathway students are doing reveg with Mr Hall and Yr 12’s from Hubbards College are doing Biology field work. 09.01.2022 Yesterday we opened our 'Connecting to County art installation at our new entrance to the Centre. During National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day last year, students from Albany Hills SS created ochre paintings with our artist-in-residence Melinda Serico. Students now at Albany Creek SHS and St Pauls College also returned for the unveiling. Our talented Unit Support Officers Rod, Neil and Jaffa installed the poles. Thank you to the local school communities that attended and of course to our Bunyaville crew for putting on a delicious lunch. The photos also show the next art project students did yesterday with Melinda... clay tiles for our Indigenous language wall. Watch this space!

09.01.2022 Tomorrow, Bush Explorers will be discovering the smells and sounds of the forest on our senses trail. Families with children aged 0-6yrs, come join Emma, our qualified Kindy teacher from 9.30-11.30am at the Centre. Bring a little towel to wipe your feet. 08.01.2022 We are excited to welcome our Bush Explorers to the Centre on Friday from 9.30 - 11.30 am. This week Emma has lots of different activities planned for families with children aged from 0-6 both in our undercover area (if we get some liquid sunshine) and outside in the forest. Bring your raincoats and gum boots and if we are lucky there might be some puddles to splash in!

08.01.2022 Calling all Bush Explorers - this Friday there will be lots of Bilby craft to explore so don’t worry if the forest is a little wet we have plenty of undercover areas. 07.01.2022 Calling all Bush Explorers... this Friday is the start of our Camp Out learning thread. Meet us in the picnic area (follow the signs) where we will have some tents for you to put up. Bring along your family's favourite camping items from home like sleeping bags, a torch or chairs to add to your camping experience. 07.01.2022 Join us for the last Bush Explorers for Term 3 tomorrow 9:30-11:30am meeting at the Centre. If the weather is fine, we will be exploring at the dam with nets and charts. 03.01.2022 Today we welcomed Helen Kenworthy, Regional Director and Kerri Giebel, Director of Early Childhood for Metropolitan Region. Helen and Kerri joined in with our Bush Kindy - It’s DEADLY program with Craigslea Kindy then popped in to see Aspley East SS Year 1’s doing our Possum Bangles Saves the Planet program in the Picnic Area. Thank you Helen and Kerri for visiting and valuing the work we do to improve student learning. We are so proud to be a Department of Education school.

03.01.2022 Our camping theme continues Bush Explorers and we are cooking on the fire pit this Friday. Meet us up at the Centre to make and cook scones, share camp stories and adventures. If you'd prefer gluten free dough, bring it along wrapped in alfoil and we can pop it in the camp oven. As this playgroup activity is run at a Department of Education school, we follow our strick COVID-19 Risk Assessment guidelines. 02.01.2022 Today is National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day. We are looking forward to hosting Indigenous students and Yr 6 leaders from Albany Hills Stare School. We will be listening, as you are the Elders of tomorrow.

02.01.2022 Endangered species week is coming up in September and bilbies have their special day on the 13th of September. This is a fun way to support them. 01.01.2022 Bush Explorers, our community playgroup is still on this Friday as our school is in Moreton Bay Regional Shire. Along with our regular families, if you used to come along to Bush Explorers and are now in Prep or Year 1 and happen to have the day off from school, we would love you to join us. Take part in a bush challenge and heaps of hands on experiences and at the end of the morning, go home with a bush goodie bag. See you Friday from 9.30-11.30am at the Centre. 01.01.2022 On Wednesday March 3rd, our Bunyaville teacher Lisa welcomed the students from Nanango SHS. They completed the Mandatory biology pracs 1,2 and 3 at school before they came. During the visit to Bunyaville they were collecting data for their IA2 assignments. We spent the morning working on systematic and random sampling quadrats along a 100m transect line from a ridgeline to a gully in the forest.... Today, Kim taught students from Earnshaw College accompanied by QUT Science Ambassador students. Kristy doing her PHD in geology and Jess, a PHD in chemistry. This mandatory practice work is very heavily booked.
