18.01.2022 Well, we’re certainly living through interesting, and challenging, times. Many are hunkering down and many, I sense, are getting pretty anxious. So I’d like to offer to facilitate a ‘slow stitch’ project to get our minds off other matters. We’ll use a kit of materials I’ll supply by post, and a members only FB group.... I won’t be ‘teaching’ as such but will provide a plan of attack and guidance, and I’ll share lots of resources and encourage you to do the same. My plan is a hand stitched and appliquéd pouch, although the end product isn’t important- it’s more about the process and connection. You can see an example here. This one uses vintage Japanese textiles but I’ll also have some bright/contemporary options. You’ll have a plain piece of fabric to work on, and a patterned lining, but be creative! I’ll supply fabrics, embroidery thread, needles, a few pins, button and loop, beads etc etc. All you need is regular thread and, preferably, an iron. A sewing machine would make life easier too when joining on the lining, but it can all be done by hand. If you have all the materials you need already, just join the group. That’s fine. It’s an opportunity to do something with old costume jewellery, old treasured fabrics etc. If you get the kit I’ll be asking $15 or whatever you can afford, including postage. Stay tuned for further logistics and options. I’m hoping to post out the kits in the coming week. No previous experience needed! Let me know if interested.

08.01.2022 Thank you for the positive response re my proposed ‘Slow stitch’ project. If you’d like to come along for the journey please select your first TWO preferences for lining material from the options below, and message them to me with your postal address. Note that one batch will be Japanese inspired and will include vintage, recycled kimonos that may have small marks or old stitch holes. The second batch will be contemporary plains, spots and florals.... Once I have received your DM I’ll send you back payment details. PayPal is preferred but you could direct deposit. I’ll then put together a collection of pieces for your kit. You’ll have to trust me with that! But you will receive more than you’ll use, and you can include your own treasures. I’ve set up a group and will invite you in.
