10.01.2022 Ever wondered about the meaning behind our name?? The Bunyip is an Aboriginal mythological figure that lives in swamps, creeks, and all types of Billabongs and waterholes all over Australia. In Aboriginal mythology, the Bunyip terrorised the waterways and ate whatever came in its path. The word "Bunyip" is loosely translated to "devil" or "evil spirit".... There have been a few accounts of early European explorers encountering a Bunyip. Each account describes significantly different physical features of the Bunyip. Does the Bunyip exist? Did it ever? Will it eat you? So many questions. So much time to think about them #bunyiptours #seeaustralia #travel #melbournetours #melbournemade #australia

06.01.2022 Penguins have long called Phillip Island home, and some incredible work is done to ensure the safety and maintenance of their natural habitat. Little penguin habitat on Summerland Peninsula is made up of both natural and artificial penguin burrows (nest boxes). Natural burrows can be found dug into the sand and soil, amongst natural vegetation like bower spinach and poa tussocks. At this time of year, the island is a fascinating place. From September to April, Short-tailed shearwaters create long burrows underground and breed in high density around the Peninsula. During this time, the colony is a very fragile environment.
