25.01.2022 More Good News The Fielding Engine, single cylinder 38 hp, was started last Monday. The engine was under repair for quite some time and defied all attempts to re-start it. I don't know how the old blokes got it away but it was certainly good to see it run again.

22.01.2022 Walkers Engine No.1 is still at the commissioning stage and under manual control. The Club started the engine briefly for public on Open Day to show how this restoration is progressing. The operators assistant in the alternator pit is keeping watch on the revs using a hand held tachometer.

21.01.2022 BMP is in care taker mode at present. The management committee are functioning to meet the legal obligations of the club. Some planning work is being complied so that we will be prepared when the restrictions are lifted.

21.01.2022 Work resumes for this year on Monday 13th Jan. The old blokes have a busy year ahead which includes the QHR 2020 rally in July. Lex Kelly BMP Treasurer

15.01.2022 The old blokes are taking a break from work at BMP Brandon Heritage Centre. Work resumes Monday 13th January 2020 when the weather will be a bit cooler.

14.01.2022 BMP Open Day 10th Nov 2019 Walkers Engine No.1 Still at the commissioning stage.

13.01.2022 The old blokes are still toiling at the Brandon Shed on Mondays. We have the Shed open for visitors Wednesday and Friday as well. Plenty of smiles last Monday, we completed and ran our little grey Fergie. Work continues on the Walkers No.1 Engine. The troublesome fuel pump has been spoken to severely and promises of bigger and better things for the future.

07.01.2022 The Old Blokes will be at the Brandon Shed each Monday 8:30 to 3:00 starting 8th June. We will be observing social distancing and the usual hygiene rules.

06.01.2022 The Qld Heritage Rally committee are currently reviewing the options of holding, postponing or cancelling the 9th Biennial Qld Heritage Rally, to be held in July 2020, due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. A decision has not yet been made but will be asap. For questions or concerns please send us an email at [email protected].

04.01.2022 Good News. The Walkers Engine, 4 cylinder 220 hp at 300 rpm built by Walkers about 1930 under licence from Mirrlees, finally ran under governor control last Monday. After some nursing up to speed, the engine settled down to run at about 290 to 295 rpm, injection air pressure varied between 550 to 580 psi. We ran the engine for several minutes. This was by far the longest run the engine has had in its restored state. The engine beat was not as smooth as we would have liked so we will have to investigate this further. Sorry, no video of this run.

03.01.2022 Good news. The old blokes fired up Walkers No.1 Engine last Monday. It ran for about 5 minutes, on the governor, at about 300 rpm. Major commissioning of the engine is now complete with only some minor on-going jobs required. We plan to permanently install the IR 15T2 air compressor that we use to pump up the air system. We also plan to couple the alternator and exciter to the engine. Happy Days.
