25.01.2022 How is your yard looking ahead of the wet season? Have some rooms in your house which could use a clear out? Council's waste facilities will accept ALL sorted domestic waste for free on Sunday 22 and Sunday 29 November! Most sorted domestic waste is free daily, however Clean Up Sundays will include a relaxation of fees for items such as mattresses and passenger/ 4WD tyres. So why wait?

24.01.2022 The Department of Transport and Main Roads (Queensland) have provided updated advice on the works occurring on the Bruce Highway between Giddy Road and Ayr-Dalbeg Road. Works are expected to be complete by late November. Please obey any changed traffic conditions and stay safe on the roads

World Environmental Health Day, championed by the International Federation of Environmental Health (IFEH), promotes environmental health issues that are not limited to any one country with the theme for 2020 being ‘Environmental Health: A key public health intervention in disease pandemic prevention.’ Environmental Health Practitioners (EHPs) play a pivotal role in the heath and wellbeing of society daily, not just du...ring pandemics however the declaration of COVID-19 as an international pandemic has brought the skills of EHPs to the fore as they work on the front line to protect communities against the spread of COVID-19. So today, Council would like to thank not only our own Environmental Health Officers, but all of those globally who continue to keep their communities safe and healthy. 22.01.2022 In the mood for a clean up this weekend? Council's waste facilities are relaxing fees for domestic waste for the next two Sundays! Prepare your yard for the upcoming disaster season, or just give your home a tidy before the Christmas festivities begin! Find out more info at Clean Up Sundays. While fees are eased, Council encourages residents to check on and help neighbours, family and friends who may not have access to adequate vehicles for dumping of waste. Remember to secure and cover all loads.



22.01.2022 Council crews will spend the next week and a half carrying out crack sealing works throughout the Burdekin road network. Works commenced today and will continue until next Tuesday 6 October, weather permitting. Works are being carried out to seal cracks in the wearing surface of roads to prevent ingress of water to road pavements. Water entering the pavement can cause many issues such as further cracking, potholes and eventually costly pavement failures. 19.01.2022 Our incredible Burdekin Shire Youth Council have done a fantastic job, fundraising to pack 10 pencil cases for School Savvy NQ - and they've challenged the Burdekin community to pack even more! The Centacare NQ School Savvy Pack-A-Pencil Case initiative is an annual back-to-school resources initiative offering pre-loved uniforms and basic stationery supplies at minimal cost to families in need. 19.01.2022 Last night, the Burdekin Theatre team hosted the inaugural Live at the Grounds - Mega Tribute Show, featuring the Killer Queen Experience, Mirage - Fleetwood Mac Experience and the Great Creedence Revival Show. 18.01.2022 The results are in! 16.01.2022 Road Update - Barratta Road Barratta Road is open with an unsealed side road detour in place. Traffic is reduced to 40km/h for the safety of Council's workforce and the travelling public. Please drive with caution when in the vicinity of the construction site.

In his time with Council, Graham was involved in the construction of the Burdekin Theatre and Burdekin Library as well as refurbishment of the Burdekin Memorial Hall in Home Hill.
