25.01.2022 Australia’s recession will be deeper and longer because of this decision.

24.01.2022 How do you make sure something won't happen? Get Scott Morrison to announce it.

22.01.2022 Today, the Morrison Government began cutting JobSeeker. In a few days' time, they'll begin cutting JobKeeper too. 2020 has already been the year from hell and... this will only make things that much harder for families who are already really struggling. There aren't enough jobs for the people looking to fill them. But instead of having a plan to create more jobs, the Morrison Government only has a plan to cut the support people are relying on. We're smack bang in the middle of a pandemic, and in the grips of a recession. If there was ever a moment to help people, it's right now. People want to work. They want to make a decent living and provide for their families. They deserve a government that works every day to give them that opportunity not one that seems determined to leave them behind.

20.01.2022 Today marks three months since Scott Morrison was dragged kicking and screaming into announcing emergency support for the arts and entertainment sector. But not a dollar has actually been spent. He was there for the photo op. But as usual there’s no follow up.

19.01.2022 Scott Morrison’s changes to content quotas will mean fewer Australian stories on our television screens and fewer job opportunities for local creators.

18.01.2022 The Morrison Government is out of control. They are trashing every convention in the book by refusing to let Labor speak in the Parliament. Scott Morrison believes the only voice anyone should hear is his own.

17.01.2022 This is Cinammon with me at the local dog park this morning - and also two years ago when she was seized in a police raid. After a few months with the RSPCA she moved in with us and is the kindest, most gentle creature you could imagine. She’s also very lazy. Five minutes of running and then she’s happy to spend the rest of her walking time collapsed under a tree.... #DogsInPoliticsDay #KeepAusPetFriendly

16.01.2022 We’re moving as fast as we possibly can, says Minister Paul Fletcher in this 7.30 package. It took him more then 100 days to announce emergency support for the arts and entertainment industry. Tomorrow marks 100 since that announcement - and still no money has actually been delivered.... Pathetic.

15.01.2022 Do they take us for mugs?

15.01.2022 Pictures tell it all - there for photo op, gone for good on the follow up

13.01.2022 7 years ago today the Abbott/Turnbull/Morrison Government was sworn in. 7 years of failure in 90 seconds by Jason Clare

12.01.2022 This is great news. The Andrews Labor Government is stepping up to protect casual workers. That’s leadership. And it stands in stark contrast with Scott Morrison, who still doesn’t get that insecure work is a problem.

10.01.2022 I never knew Susan Ryan during her time as a minister but came to know her later as a friendly and really smart person who always wanted to talk policy with a wonderful optimism. But whether you knew Susan or not, we all live in a more just Australia because of her.

10.01.2022 My colleague Josh Burns commissioned this touching short film about how the Melbourne arts community is coping in lockdown. Please have a watch.

09.01.2022 Today, it’s JobSeeker. On Monday it will be JobKeeper. Australia’s recession will be longer and deeper because of Scott Morrison’s decision to cut these payments too soon.

09.01.2022 Eight years ago today I dropped around to The Lodge and the Murray Darling Basin Plan was signed into law. It was far from perfect but it was the first time after more than one hundred years of dispute that the rivers had a plan that saw the basin as a complete connected system. Much of it has been paused. But wherever it has been implemented the system is healthier and the communities are stronger.

09.01.2022 These are some really worrying findings from the Australian Live Music Business Council. A staggering 70 per cent of live music businesses say they won't survive another six months. Just 17 per cent will be able to access the Government's support package - if and when any money from that package actually flows. The Government is still in denial. Scott Morrison did the photo-op with the celebrities but as usual there's no follow-up. How many jobs have to be lost before the Government finally does something for these businesses and workers?

09.01.2022 Another shocker of a week for the Morrison Government. And it’s not over yet!

08.01.2022 This week is Asbestos Awareness Week. Australia has a long and sorry history with this deadly product that killed nearly 700 Australians in 2018 alone. There is currently no cure for mesothelioma or other asbestos-related conditions, and hundreds of Australians are diagnosed every year.... As many as one in three homes in Australia still contain asbestos - as well as many public buildings - and there are still high risks of exposure. Asbestos lurks in more places than you think so before you start any renovation work, please be aware.

08.01.2022 Scott Morrison will cut JobKeeper a week from today. In my electorate of Watson that means more than 33,000 people will lose vital income support - putting jobs and businesses at risk in the middle of a recession.

05.01.2022 Having your own stories told can mean the world. Huge thanks and congratulations to Rawah Arja for writing The F Team, a novel for young adults. The story is set in Punchbowl, the students in it go to school at Punchbowl, the author lives in Punchbowl, the printers Ligare are on the border of Riverwood and Punchbowl, and today Rawah presented me with a copy at my office in Punchbowl. I’ve taken it home to read. Yes, I live in Punchbowl. And I’m so proud local students can... now read a local work of young adult fiction. #punchbowl

05.01.2022 Scott Morrison loves a photo-op but never actually delivers - even for the people he uses in his photo-ops

02.01.2022 Bijoy Paul is the fourth delivery rider killed on our roads in the last few months. Gig workers deserve the same workplace safety standards as any other employee. It’s time to bring in some proper safety regulations in this industry.

01.01.2022 Scott Morrison will cut JobKeeper tomorrow, removing vital support for businesses and workers in the middle of the worst recession in 100 years. But he's also making it easier for businesses that are recovering to slash their workers' hours and wages. Under Morrison's new laws, low paid workers could lose $300 a week - even though their employer is doing better.

01.01.2022 The worst and most heartless thing you can do in a recession is cut support for people who need it but that's exactly what Scott Morrison has done. He likes the nickname ScoMo. It should be promo. He's all talk and no walk.
