21.01.2022 So happy to say our friend Jason Sutinen aka Berty is doing really well and is in a great frame of mind although it’s just the start of this journey we can be happy he's off to a great start. Also happy to say we have almost reached our sponsorship goals for Birdies 4 Berty onesector community fundraiser golf day next Saturday the 14th. So many people to thank so many local business to appreciate and give big hugs to on the day. Even while our country is going through its to...ughest year in history our beautiful people and businesses in our community are still giving. 17.01.2022 Hey everyone, What a wild year it has been! We have been lucky enough to run enough comps for the year. It has been a bit of a challenge though we greatly appreciate all the help you have given us to make it happen.... This coming Saturday November 28th we will be hosting our annual Life Members Teams Challenge and End of year Presentation. Please meet at the clubhouse @6:30am-7am so we can sort the teams out for the comp. Each life member who attends will be given a balanced team of 5. All ages accepted. Once teams are picked we will more than likely running the comp in the corner. It will be a tag team format same as previous years. (Due to Covid we have mixed it up this year so we are in an outdoor environment for the presso.) Once the comp is done we will be moving back over to the clubhouse for the end of year presentation (about 12-1pm- depending on how many we get for the comp) We will be providing pizza and non alcoholic drinks for all members and their family. Plenty of prizes will be handed out! Plus a surprise by the man in the red suit at some stage!!! (maybe it will be Ash haha) Once all the awards and prizes are handed out we invite all members and families over to Club Burleigh for refreshments and hopefully some dancing if we are allowed. 15.01.2022 Burleigh Boardriders own Jason "Berty" Sutinen received news this week that he would have to go into battle for at least the next 6 months with Non- Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. We as a community want to show Berty he doesn’t have to do the hard yards by himself. Spread the word far and wide to come join us for a fun day of golf and drinks on the 14th November at Tallai Golf Course. Let’s all get out there and show Berty that whilst he takes this head-on, we are standing right behind him. 14.01.2022 Hey Guys. As most of you would already know , Sadly we have lost our great friend and Burleigh Boardriders member Postcard Pete aka Peter Hyland. Originally from DY him and his family moved to Burleigh Heads in 96 Raising his boys to surf Burleigh Point as best as they could and they definitely could. Every afternoon not many missed was spent watching and coaching his boys from the point finished off with a couple of favourite Tooheys New... Still with a clear view of the b...oys from the Crab pot. He loved the Manly Sea Eagles and always enjoyed a bit of back and forth Nrl Banter. He was a well respected local plumber with a great work ethic’s which he passed onto his kids. He’s memory lives on through his children Tim, Nikki , Kelly and Josh all great kids living their best lives which he was so proud that of. His funeral service is this Friday for those who would like to pay their respects are more then welcome to attend, just be mindful about the covid social distancing rules , let inside the venue fill up with his relatives and family first then obviously friends can gather outside etc. Service will be held at 2pm Friday At herritage funerals 43 west Burleigh road , then up stairs at the Burleigh surf club from 3 pm for his wake.
