24.01.2022 It’s World Water Day. No kidding. They got that timing spot on. @ Burnetts On Barney

23.01.2022 Fertilise All this rain makes it a perfect time to fertilise your camellias, azaleas and rhodos in preparation for their coming flowering season. They are all a...cid lovers so make sure the fertiliser you select is suitable for their needs. It is best to keep pruning to a minimum at this time but it is OK to trim long, lanky growth. See more

23.01.2022 This door was made for these flowers, dropped earlier this week for a special lady. Friday and Saturday we have fresh GardenGrown flowers here at Burnetts and these are just some of the bunches that have arrived this morning. There’s more coming. Grown in the abundant basalt soils of Jamberoo and Kiama, picked in the cool of the night, arranged while the sane were sleeping. They don’t come fresher. They don’t last long so don’t linger. @ Burnetts On Barney

21.01.2022 Plants aren’t the only beauties of nature living happily here. Create a garden and welcome visitors will follow. @ Burnetts On Barney

21.01.2022 Colour, texture and flora-based photography by Kiama artist Rowan Hollingworth combine in breathtaking silk scarves available from this morning at Burnetts. Images of nasturtiums, lillies, iris and tree branches taking in ways you might not expect are laid over vibrantly-edged hand-rolled silk to produce scarves you could just as easily hang as an artwork. We are thrilled to support the works of locals such as Rowan who has just held an exhibition in Wollongong of exclusive release pieces and limited photography. Square scarves are $90, rectangular $95 and each is individually wrapped.

20.01.2022 We love it when local cafes promote sustainable community activities like Kiama Crop and Swap. Thanks @thebroodingcafe and @little.earth.cafe for the reminder that Crop and Swap is on this Saturday, 14th, from 9.30am at Burnetts.

20.01.2022 So, this happened while you were sleeping. If you need one of these HomeGrowns for you or a friend come in early to Burnetts because they always go fast. Coffee’s at Burnetts too this morning and remember that tomorrow’s Crop and Swap. We love this end of the week.

18.01.2022 We are not political...but this is pretty funny and we can get away with share it because it has the word ‘landscaping’ in it.

16.01.2022 ‘Oh dear, oh dear, I’m late for a very important date!’ It’s easy to feel like the White Rabbit from Alice In Wonderland at this time of the year. So many people taunting with the ‘Are you ready for Christmas?. Let’s face it, you’re not late until the day and even though there are less hours in December than seem fair you’ll pull it all together by the 25th. So much garden giftware arrived only this week that there isn’t even time to show you properly but here’s a quick snapshot of some of the bits and pieces that might help you get it all done. Burnetts will be open right up until Christmas Eve so that you can scurry in and sort those last little things right up until the last minute. Breathe. @ Burnetts On Barney

16.01.2022 See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil. New Year’s resolution in a succulent pot. Grey or White. Only a few. Oh Santa, please, I’ve definitely been this good.

14.01.2022 There’s a hint of autumn which reminds us of camellias. Plenty of new ones in stock ready to plant in time for this season. For the ones you’ve got already, it’s time for a feed while they’re busy setting buds for a May display. An entree of Blood and bone, main of sulfate of potash and chaser of cowpoo will all go down a treat. @ Burnetts On Barney

14.01.2022 You really need to see these vertical gardens. You’ll be amazed at the growth. The plants are growing before our very eyes and are just so beautiful. Before Christmas we covered the eastern wall of The Contained Garden and the foliage spread like the clappers. Last week it was an edible wall and we are literally harvesting lettuce from it this week. Today Justin finished the grass wall and it won’t be surprising if native birds are foraging in it tomorrow. The concept is so simple, the execution has been extraordinary and the result is a beautiful combination of natural cooling, vibrant planting and fabulous colour and texture. It’s no wonder customers are already commissioning us to transform their homes and walls into a green oasis too. This is the most fun we’ve had in ages. @ Burnetts On Barney

13.01.2022 Can you smell that? It’s the citrus scent of Lemon Myrtle, or Backhousia citriodora that’s been cut this morning ready for swapping at Kiama Crop and Swap. There’s plenty for everyone. One of the best-known Aboriginal bush tucker and medicinal plants, it is a beaut foliage that is great for flavouring food, infusing into oils, tarting up shortbread or cheese balls and makes a ripper gin infusion. What will you be bringing at 9.30am this morning to Burnetts to swap for some lemon myrtle? Everyone is welcome and don’t forget, the Kombi coffee will be here. If you haven’t checked out our new converted container gardenware spot you’d better check that out too. Of course, you’re not well, please stay home and garden and we’ll see catch up another day.

11.01.2022 Just a couple of friends hangin’ out together. There’s a lot of ‘head’ pots getting around at the moment. Some of them are just kitch, some are downright scary. These won’t be for everyone but many will fall in love with them because they’ve got some serious spunk and I could almost hear their chat while working out which succulents they liked best. Their bowls are a tactile granite that makes them quite special. A warning though, we only have a few. @ Burnetts On Barney

10.01.2022 A lovely lady phoned very early on Sunday to let us know the broccoli seedling punnet her husband bought had been hammered by caterpillars and should not have been sold. She was right. They had been hammered. In just one day. Why? Because someone nicked the plastic solar-powered butterflies we use to deter those cute little white butterflies from wanting to lay their eggs on our brassicas. The damn hide of them. It’s not like they’re even that expensive. To be honest, if they...’d said they really, really needed them for their caterpillared garden we would probably have just given them for free because they’re right, they’re worth stealing because they really work. Flutterbies just flutter by when they see them. Yes, we could check the video etc etc but we have such honest customers generally we really just can’t be bothered chasing one lone one who got away with a piece of plastic butterfly. Perhaps we’ll know who they are when they bring in big, blemish-free broccoli to crop and swap. Anyway, moral to this story is we do value our customers’ feedback - good, bad or otherwise - and our bitten broccoli customer will be welcomed back to pick up her free replacements tomorrow morning when fresh seedling stock arrives. We’ll gift her a solar-powered butterfly too for her hassle. If you’ve had a similar experience, tell us rather than your neighbour because we work hard to give you a good experience and if we drop the ball we need to know. And yes, our replacement fake butterflies are on standby ready to guard the new brassica seedlings autumn gardeners will be looking for after all the rain. @ Burnetts On Barney See more

08.01.2022 A heads up for you, as promised. Hibiscus and Brugmansias have arrived. So good to have these flowering beauties back - we can’t seem to keep up with your demand for their oversized colour. @ Burnetts On Barney

08.01.2022 And then this happened! You’ve got to be here to see how much fun this place is this morning thanks to coffee music with ‘Three Of Us So Far’.

07.01.2022 Thinking something a little outside the chocolate box for little ones this Easter? Sprouts, grow your own groovy grass heads, pizza topping kits, all sorts of interactive green activities and gear for kids and kids at heart this Easter holiday. @ Burnetts On Barney

06.01.2022 The weather will have cleared, there’ll be champagne. We’re thrilled to host this for a great local business run by lovely, sunny Kym Middleton.

05.01.2022 We love it when the plants match the pots which match the decor. If only life was always this calm and matchey. These new pots are apparently called ‘Jade’ but you can call them whatever you like. You’ll find them in our new ‘Contained Garden’ with so many other pot friends.

04.01.2022 Christmas season officially starts here at Burnetts next Saturday, 28 November with the arrival of fresh Christmas trees. Live potted ones will be here too, in a variety of species ranging from the European fir look to native wooly bush or Norfolk Island Pine. Poinsettias will come in a variety of colours. Flowering NSW Christmas Bush, gardenias, hydrangeas and Star Jasmine are already in stock. Now’s a good time to order that special tree for pick up from next Saturday or a specific date in December. Call us on 42 331 322 to organise all your Christmas decorating needs.

04.01.2022 It’s hard not to love a quick summer storm when the outlook is so beautiful at Burnetts.

04.01.2022 If you’re still looking for your Christmas tree we have a couple left, but be quick, they won’t last long

03.01.2022 A new soul has entered the gallery at Burnetts’ new Garden Room, aka the converted container sheds, as artist Becky Guggisberg’s gorgeous ladies and ducks have found their new forever home. Three unique pieces have already sold from Becky’s exhibition under her Bexta art name which will continue only until Christmas when another local artist’s works will go on show following the same theme of nature to reflect our business obsession with all things landscape, garden and earth. @ Burnetts On Barney

02.01.2022 I bet some of you have some goodies from that fun day in the sun. Lucky it wasn’t this week

02.01.2022 A bit awkward to share but proud of the team effort behind this...

02.01.2022 A riot of colour. I’ve never known quite what that expression actually means but it’s definitely one of those here at Burnetts this morning. Petunias, impatiens, geraniums, hydrangeas, gardenias, star jasmine, dipladenas. All in flower, riotously. Bring your sunnies because it’s certainly bright and colourful here this morning. Don’t forget, it’s koffee kombi day too with Morgan from The Split Screen Coffee Company. @ Burnetts On Barney

01.01.2022 Perfect gardening weather...indoor. Doors open here till 4, rain or shine. @ Burnetts On Barney

01.01.2022 Friday is flower day at Burnetts and as well as Susan Spence’s beautifully curated GardenGrown bouquets today we have some simple bunches of Christmas bush, cut fresh this morning and just $5 a bunch. Nothing fancy, no wrapping, just some Christmas cheer to pop in a vase by the front door or take to a friend with a glass of bubbly. Happy Christmas week.
