24.01.2022 Womens Health Week is the perfect time to put the focus back on your health. Today we look at the Pelvic Floor. No its not another dance routine....... Every woman no matter how old, no matter how many children shes had needs to be exercising her pelvic floor every day.... AND YES this applies to MEN as well... While building and maintaining strong pelvic floor muscles have long been associated with women, men have a pelvic floor too! Strengthening these muscles can help to reduce incontinence, uncontrollable passing of wind and painful sex. Did you know that the pelvic floor is the sling of muscles that acts as a hammock to your lower internal organs, so its the perfect topic to talk about today. Its a crucial network of muscles that supports the function and control of your bladder and bowel, holds your uterus in place and affects your sexual health too. If you have weak pelvic floor muscles, you might feel heavy around your bottom, have trouble controlling wind, or leak urine when you cough, sneeze, laugh or exercise. You might also feel an urgent need to urinate. Rather than being yet another task to add to a never-ending to-do list, we suggest incorporating your pelvic floor exercises with something thats already part of your routine. Brushing your teeth. Waiting at the traffic lights on your way to work? Feeding the newborn? Sitting at your desk, or shopping? Nows the time to squeeze and release! But the release is just as important as the squeeze, some women may also need to learn to "release" their pelvic floor muscles for example if they have pelvic pain. One exercise that is great for activating the pelvic floor muscles is the Bridge. Even without weight, the pause and pulse of this move will have you feeling it. 06.01.2022 I have been involved in fitness all my life, I belonged in sports teams and have also been a single figure whilst working out. But personally, I like a group environment. Well for me it’s about my mental health, the interaction and group camaraderie keeps me motivated and accountable. It helps me improve my teamwork and communication skills, it allows me to meet new people, make more friends and gives me structure and routine.
