25.01.2022 Planning for our award winning Burnie Show, now known as the "The Show & Agri-Expo", has been happening weekly since October and will still continue via email due to the current COVID-19 crisis. One of our newest ideas for the future of Agriplex is a new website with information, event booking and ticketing systems. Information for the show has moved onto the new website agriplex.com.au which is the host site for all our future activities and events. Check it out and make a note of the opening dates for exhibitors and ticketing. (pt)

24.01.2022 We have bags of FREE* cow dung available if anyone thinks this is the way to go. *photo proof required of use. (pt)

22.01.2022 Over the Agriplex looking toward Table Cape and Burnie on the right. Ridgley Hwy snaking it's way from the left toward Burnie. (pt)

22.01.2022 Is it about time to trade in the old faithful? Need a job done properly and reliably without grunting and groaning or blowing a gasket every time? Well if your tractor is getting tired and run down and you are looking to trade it in, beware of a scam that seems to be spreading around the nation. I read about this a week or so ago and it was just WA. Seems QLD and NT are now affected. (pt) https://www.abc.net.au//machinery-scam-fleeces-fa/12197502

16.01.2022 Hope you are all safe and well and doing your bit, keeping the farms going or just staying home. With the COVID-19 restrictions we are unable to convene an AGM as is usually scheduled for this time of year. Most advice from government is to hold off on these meetings until they become possible again. There are a few concessions for organisations such as the Society surrounding our usual annual reporting and meeting dates. A lot of regulatory compliance dates have been extende...d by government departments, and may be extended again. Members can be assured they will receive the annual reports via email soon after they becomes available and collated. In other news progress toward a DA for the Agriplex is inevitably slow with many associated organisations minimising their staff exposure. Please stay safe and we will keep you posted as we progress through this time warp. (pt)

16.01.2022 We are getting a few questions about our annual show held in October. Here is a snippet from page 8 of today's Advocate. (pt)

15.01.2022 Food! It goes without saying that food is important. Quite a few our our Society members are farmers and their daily farming production continues for the most part without any change. Put simply, cows still need milking, crops still grow and need harvesting, cattle and sheep grow and need to go to market, fish grow and become ready for processing. Be assured that while most of us are facing uncertainty and isolation, farmers are still working to produce our food. In this photo our Life Member, Gary Clarke and cattle farmer is chatting with Deputy Premier, Jeremy Rockliff. (pt)

14.01.2022 The Society have a large inventory of very valuable toilet paper. It was decided at a committee meeting recently to make sure it was more secure :-) (pt)

13.01.2022 You may have spotted this little article in today's Advocate. Yes the Society are still working behind the scenes during the current COVID-19 restrictions and keeping a close eye on what events we can hold. We have also taken the opportunity to work the surface of the 100 x 100m equestrian sand arena and sow grass seed ready for the coming equestrian and event season. (pt)

12.01.2022 We had the pleasure of having a fair portion of the Liberal team on our new Agriplex site today to show off our grounds and discuss some of our ideas for the future in this great green patch. (pt)

11.01.2022 The Society are pleased to announce that Kyle Barker is the new President after our AGM last night. Carol Jackson has been President since 2017 and has overseen a remarkable change in direction for the society with our historic move from Wivenhoe and the most successful show in 2019. Carol is now retiring from the board to concentrate on family and new grandkids. Your new board members are: President - Kyle Barker (Carol Jackson retired)... Treasurer - Jennifer Broadfield (no change) Senior Vice Pres - Peter Broadfield (no change) Junior Vice Pres - Paul Taylor (no change) Junior Vice Pres - Greg Cohen (replacing Kyle Barker) Directors - Wayne Maine (no change) Director - Paul McGrath (no change) Patron - Leonie Hiscutt MLC (no change) Auditor - Garth Parker (no change) At 22 years old Kyle is undoubtedly the youngest President of the Burnie Agricultural and Pastoral Society (and possibly for any agricultural society nationally). He has brought some amazing ideas to this society and proved he is worth keeping :-) We also welcome Greg Cohen onto the board. Greg is an Engineer and has been working tirelessly in the limelight for many years focusing on our engineering issues and more. It goes without saying there are some truly amazing members amongst us and I would especially like to add the amazing patience and tenacity of our resident retired Architect in Peter Holloway. Otherwise, nothing much has changed which in itself speaks volumes about the current board. It represent an era of stability and direction for the Society while working toward our long term goal in the community facility that is the Agriplex. (pt)

07.01.2022 At last we can squeeze into somewhere for an AGM. The Burnie Scout Group, who we have worked with from time to time, have allowed us use of their hall. See the link at https://goo.gl/maps/boGBH1okMKfZfmce7 for directions. (This notice was in today's Advocate)

03.01.2022 General Meeting CANCELLED for tomorrow night because of that damn COVID-19. Meetings are cancelled till further notice. Directors will continue to meet virtually and we will try finding ways to get the information and decisions out to you. We also have an AGM coming up on 23 Apr 2020. We are working out alternatives to meeting face to face for this.

02.01.2022 Most people including myself are blissfully unaware about what happens in the farming areas surrounding our towns. Driving past our 99 acre Agriplex (a working farm) you could see cattle grazing. Well that mob has now moved back to northern NSW. They were moved here during the height of the drought up on the north island and arrived in relatively poor condition. Just look at them now. Tassie's grass and climate for you. (pt)
