23.01.2022 Finally Back Open Tonight!

23.01.2022 FYI for 3rd XI players. You are now playing Glen Waverley this week instead of East Malvern. Time and Venue has not changed

22.01.2022 4 time premiership player Brett Mitchell will make his long awaited return to the club this season and after being stuck on 99 games since 2015, will finally play number 100! Brett was one Burnley's best players throughout the club's legendary golden era during the mid 2000's to mid 2010's. In his first season, he played an important role in the 2nd XI's premiership triumph over Bentleigh and would later go on to play in three 1st XI A Grade flags in 07-08, 13-14 & 14-15. Bre...tt also played a major role as 12th man back in the A grade premiership of 09-10 against South Yarra, producing two magnificent catches that turned the tide of the match. Brett has also served on the club's committee and was treasurer for two seasons. We would like to wish Brett all the very best in game 100 and we are absolutely rapt to see him back at the Burners!

17.01.2022 Following yesterday’s (Oct 18) announcement from the Victorian Government and after discussions with Cricket Victoria it has been confirmed that club cricket tr...aining cannot commence until Nov 2. However Cricket Victoria are currently in discussions with DHHS & SRV to ascertain whether training can commence on Oct 26 as per the original Roadmap to Reopening. We will provide clubs an update on those talks as soon as they are available. Therefore until such time as we receive official notification to the contrary absolutely no club based training can take place prior to Nov 2. However clubs can advise their players that individual training can now take place in groups of up to 10 on the strict proviso that participants in the groups come from no more than 2 households and are within 25km of their primary residence. At this stage there are no changes to scheduled competition starting dates.

16.01.2022 1st XI batsman Steve MacLean brought up his 1000th run for the club on Sunday! Well done Steve!

15.01.2022 Sean Leydon 250 Games Message from Sean regarding this week: First of all, I'd like to say a very big thank you to everyone that has sent messages or was part of the videos. I had no idea they were all coming and when I saw them all today I felt extremely humbled and even a little bit embarrassed. I hope everyone knows how much that means to me. To hear from current players, guys I've known my whole life, and club legends I grew up idolising really means a lot.... I'd like to say a particular big thanks to Dad and the Passas for organising it and to Taryn for putting all the videos together. I'll always remember coming to the club to watch dad as a little kid and hanging around with some of the old timers who I idolised as a kid. Guys like Pebbles, Timmy, Hammy, Grant, Helstrup, Robbie Williams, Joggers etc were all heroes of mine and I was lucky enough to play with a lot of these guys in my early years. I've had way too many great memories to list them all but I do have a few particular favourites. First time going on the ground for Burnley. Sub fielding for Pebbles. First game for the club under Grant's captaincy. Being around during the club's golden era between 2006 and 2014. C Grade Premiership in 2010/11 The famous 2009/10 D Grade Premiership. This would easily be the second best moment of my life (after the Taryn agreeing to marry me of course). I was so lucky to be able to play in 2 senior premierships as a teenager but this one was made even more special to be able to do it alongside Dad. I've met so many great people at Burnley that have had a profound impact on my life including some of my very best mates. There's no short way to list them all but you all know who you are. This place has been the one constant thing in my life. Throughout the good times and the bad I always know the club is here for me. As an average park cricketer there is nothing better than getting out and having fun with your mates for 6 or 7 hours on a weekend. I don't know where I'd be without Burnley and I feel honoured and privileged to have been able to play for the best club in the world. It's been an incredible journey so far and I'm looking forward to the next 250. I'd like to finish off by saying a big well done to Mark Goudie on game 100 and I'm hoping all teams can go out there on the weekend and come home with 4 big wins. Go Burners!

15.01.2022 Important info for players and spectators

12.01.2022 A big congratulations to Mark Goudie who plays game number 100 in the 2's on Sunday. Since arriving at the club back at the beginning of the 2010/11 season Mark has been an outstanding contributor to the club on and off the ground. From day one Mark has always put a big price on his wicket. Early on he also sent down some very underrated leggies. In recent seasons he has made the transition to being a wicket keeper and has one of the safest pair of hands at the club. ... In his first season at the club Mark was 12th man in the 4th XI's big premiership win over Bentleigh. He has also won multiple fielding awards, a best clubman award and even served as vice president for a season. Many may also remember the incredible makeover Mark gave the club rooms for our 75th Anniversary function. We would like to wish Mark all the very best on game 100 and in the many more to come! Well done Goudie!

10.01.2022 Massive news out of the 2s today! Brett Mitchell scores his first Burnley ton in his 100th game to guide the boys to victory! Well done Brett!

09.01.2022 It may not have been the best weather for our first session of the season but we were able to get some much needed fielding training in. Great to see all our old mates as well as a couple of gun new players. It's shaping to be a big season at Burners! See you all at 11am on Sunday!

06.01.2022 We have a massive milestone this week with Mark Irving set to play game number 200 in the 2's on Sunday! Since arriving at Burnley in 2003 Mark has been one of the club's greatest ever players. His achievements so far include:... 2x Premiership Player 1x Club Champion 3x Pebbles Army Player of the Year 5x Bill Wagg Batting Aggregate Award 11x Batting Average Awards 3x Highest Partnership of the Season 6477 Runs (6th All Time) 11 Centuries (Equal 1st All Time) That is a fantastic CV and very few players have come close to this at Burnley. Mark has also been a fantastic member of the club off field. He's always happy to help out wherever he can, whether it be at club fundraisers or by attending functions. There has even been a few instances where Mark has won raffles and donated the money straight back to the club. We've thoroughly enjoyed Mark's professionalism, wit, humour and generosity over the years and would like to congratulate him on 200 fantastic games!

06.01.2022 The 3's couldn't quite get the job done in their season opener but legendary keeper Ian Hamm was able to take catch #300! Well done Hammy!

04.01.2022 ROUND 1 is still scheduled for November 14-15, and will be 80-over matches to allow teams to get used to the Covid-safe requirements which will be sent around n...ext week. The following two rounds will be 90-over matches. The Executive Committee will then review finish times to decide whether matches should be 80 or 90 overs (or something in-between) to prevent excessively late finishes. See more
