25.01.2022 Well - it’s time to call it.... We have decided to go into TEMPORARY hibernation from Monday 30th March. We feel it incongruous that we are being told that it’...s vital to stay at home.... but are still asking our staff to come in to work. We feel that it’s the right decision to be one less place where people can linger and perhaps put themselves, and us, at risk. We know you’ll understand. 03.01.2022 Hello Bookery people! So, it’s been a couple of weeks since we touched base.... We’ve all been doing our best to stay away, and stay safe and keep this monster at bay. It’s been harder for some of us then for others- my house has never been cleaner - and I even ironed today...things are dire, clearly.... We miss you. We miss saying hello, we miss the laughs and the conversation and the day to day touching base with you, all of you who make our job the best job in the world. ... We’ve been trying to think of ways we can keep doing what we’re doing, while we’re doing this... It’s hard. We don’t want you to come into the shop, put you at risk from us, from others - make our lovely safe place, where we come to grab a piece of peace, another place where we aren’t sure we’re doing the right thing by being there at all... Beatle and I are going to be in the shop for a few days after Easter, doing admin things mainly - but....if we can help with anything -let us know - we’re happy to deliver anything we already have in stock (including a few copies of American Dirt). 02.01.2022 So - we’ve been running the takeaway shop, for three days this week - and it seems to be a thing that’s been working for all of us - thank you to our takeaway customers - yes, it’s weird, but it’s also kind of fun! We’ve been working hard reactivating all of our paused accounts so that we can finally get some new books flowing into the shop - including Malcolm Turnbull’s autobiography, which should land next week( we already have quite a few pre-orders - add your name to the ...list if you like). This is the plan for the next 2 weeks: The Bookery Takeaway will be open from 10am till about 4pm on TUESDAYS, WEDNESDAYS AND THURSDAYS - We’re not going to be open at the weekend just yet. Just for this week we are also open on Friday....... We’re happy to home deliver to the local area and will take any special orders you need - not sure about the overseas suppliers yet, our US wholesaler is in a world of pain, as you can imagine. We have orders in for plenty of games and will get new jigsaws as soon as the suppliers restock - (did you read the post about the jigsaw swap in the meantime?)
