25.01.2022 We hope you’re enjoying this amazing spring weather. Last month we held our Annual General Meeting (AGM) where we elected office holders for the 2020-2022 term. At this meeting Craig Holt opted against being re-elected as an officer. This marks the end of an era for Craig. He has held operational rank at Burnside since at least 1985. During this time he has held numerous roles including senior fire fighter, lieutenant and captain. In 2005 Craig was awarded the prestigious A...ustralian Fire Service Medal (AFSM). More recently, Craig was awarded the City of Burnside Citzen of the Year (2019) presented by Anne Monceaux - Mayor of Burnside. Craig, thank you for your leadership over the years. Moving forward, irrespective of rank, colour of your helmet or markings on your shoulder you will continue to be an amazing leader within our brigade and the wider CFS.

24.01.2022 All CFS Brigades are incredibly lucky to have a pool of volunteers and employers that allow them to do what we do best in times like this. These groups of people are regularly acknowledged and thanked It is often overlooked that to enable our Brigade members to go and fight these fires, at moments notice with no real timeline as to when we will return, there are a team of quiet achievers that support our Volunteers. To all the partners, husbands and wives who stay back, comf...ort children (even though they don't actually know what is going on), manage family commitments, re-organise social events and generally make sure that in a chaotic situation there is stability at home. To all these quiet achievers, we can't do it with out you!

Thankfully no one was injured in the crash!! Although, the chemicals on board spilt which made for a very tedious and long clean up. As one of the states Hazmat technician brigades we get responded across the state to help manage these type of incidents. Its always a great opportunity to demonstrate our high level of training and to work alongside other brigades learning new things from each other.
