21.01.2022 Congratulations to club legend Bob Claxton who this week was awarded with Life Membership to Hockey Australia. His contribution to Burnside Hockey Club in playing, coaching, administration and mentoring is immeasurable. His impact and influence has reached all levels of the club...Women, Men, Juniors & Masters. His award recognises this as part of his broader passion to develop and spread the love of the game both within Australia and abroad. From the bottom of our hearts, ...thank you Bob. Ive added two listings for two people that have given their heart and soul to the Club. carbon & pixels (Bel Rundell) ... Photojo (Jo Robinson) Bel makes some really striking & beautiful line art. Check it out to see what I mean. Mention BHC and you get) $5 off any sketch until the end of May. I got some for Claire and my mum for Xmas and they were rapt. 17.01.2022 On Monday night our U18s were joined by the Premier League Leaders at their training. It was a great experience for both groups that will be followed up in coming weeks. We think its very important to build connections across teams and the club.

15.01.2022 Have you got a business that needs help and our BHC community can support? Check out the Community Forum where I am creating a list by category of businesses we can support in these difficult times. I really encourage everyone to regularly check back in on this forum to see how we can best support each other. ... If you have a business you would like listed here, send me a message either via this page or my personal. At this stage, I would like keep it businesses that really need our help, not just a general plug. When we have got through the other side of this crisis, we'll work on a general business directory. Don't forget there are also forums for needing/posting work and needing/having any general items for giveaway/buy/swap/sell. Stay healthy and stay safe! 15.01.2022 Hi all, Some updates for you re: training, the 2020 season and fees. Were getting closer to a date where we will be able to commence a 2020 season! While exciting, it is imperative that we follow government, Hockey SA and Club guidelines to ensure we get to that point as early, but more importantly, as safely as possible. Please see the graphic on this post. It has changed since the last update, so please pay close attention.... It is great to see activity already from some of the grades already and I expect that all senior grades can/will return to training this week. We may be able to secure some pitch time as early as this Thursday. Watch this space and keep your stick at hand! Key to remember in all trainings is Get in. Train. Get out. It will be tempting to have a chat with our teammates that we havent seen for a while as we prepare for training, warm up, warm down or pack up. Come to training ready to go. Warm up and warm down is to be done in your zone. Once training is done, leave straight away. In regards to Season 2020 & Fees, some key points that were discussed at the forum last week were: Hockey SA have reduced their registration fees by 20% (Juniors now $23.75, Seniors now $59.67) For anyone who has already paid, HSA are still working out whether they will refund or credit 2021 Hockey Australia have not reduced their levy/insurance fees but have stated there will not be an increase in 2021 (U9 = $0 // U18 = $$31.50 // Senior $43) Season will likely be 14 or 9 rounds depending on when a start date is confirmed. Team nomination fees will be reduced pro-rata Burnside Hockey Club will be meeting this week to finalise the 2020 Club fees Cheers Tom Pres

12.01.2022 We're back! Today, Hockey SA announced that the 2020 Metro Season will commence weekend starting Friday 19th June. I would like to take this opportunity to thanks Andrew Skillern, Nadine Hewson, Max Bail and the team at Hockey SA for their management of the COVID-19 situation in relation to our sport and their communication and consultation throughout. With conflicting sources of information and targets that were constantly moving, they have done an admirable job in securing ...our return to competition as soon as has been possible. I would also like to thank the Burnside Hockey Club Committee for their commitment in managing this process with the health and safety of our community as the number one priority, while planning the return to training and competition as soon as we had the all clear. Finally, I would like to acknowledge and thank Sean Faulkner for his efforts in compiling thorough COVID 19 plans and risk assessments which will help guide the Club as we navigate Season 2020 and beyond. With only 3 weeks now until competition, if you have not already, it is time to get back on the track and get yourself cherry ripe for Round 1! I am thrilled that we have been able to re-nominate all teams that we had planned for 2020 and in the Metro Comp will be fielding teams in PL, M1, M2, M4 & M5 for women and PL, M1, M3, M5, M6 & Masters for men.
