13.01.2022 MEET THE COMMITTEE MEMBERS OF THE BURNSLIFE NATIONAL ADULT BURN SURVIVOR AND EDUCATION SUPPORT FORUM 2020 Over the coming weeks we would like to introduce you to our dedicated committee who have volunteered their time to ensure this years National Adult Burns Survivor Education and Support Forum is educational, insightful, bonding and will leave a lasting impression for all who attend. Name: Tracey Fryer... How long have you been involved with the National Adult Burns Survivor Education and Support Forums and what made you be part of this committee? This is my first year of involvement with the National Adult Burns Survivor Education and Support Forum. I work as a Social Worker in rehabilitation and some of my clients are in rehab due to burn injuries. As a result I became aware of this forum and wanted to learn more hence I volunteered to be on the committee. What is the Ultimate outcome you want to see from this forum? I would like to see burn survivors, their family members and carers have the opportunity to receive information that is up to date and reliable, as well as having fun and making friends. As you know there is a lot of fun to be had at theses forums, do you have any special party tricks you are prepared to share? I did start to learn to play the flute but the local dog population complained so I had to forget my plans of being a flutist.

Hey my name is Carol. I was burnt in a house fire in 2000 to 85% of my body. They never found out what happened so never had real complete closure. I have though learnt to accept and move forward on my journey of Life After Adversity and achieved more then what I thought. I enjoy sharing not only with burn survivors but people who have experienced loss on different levels. We all have a story and look forward to sharing with you all.

02.01.2022 MEET THE COMMITTEE MEMBERS OF THE BURNSLIFE NATIONAL ADULT BURNS SURVIVOR EDUCATION AND SUPPORT FORUM 2020 Over the coming weeks we would like to introduce you to our dedicated committee who have volunteered their time to ensure this years National Adult Burns Survivor Education and Support Forum is educational, insightful, bonding and will leave a lasting impression for all who attend. Karen Jacques... How long have you been involved with the National Adult Burns Survivor Education and Support Forums and what made you be part of this committee? I have been involved with the Burns Community for nearly 15 years. When I was burnt back in 1968 there was no support at all for the Burn Survivor or the Families. When the opportunity came up to help in the Burns Community I instantly thought "How can I make a Difference" and help create a support network for Burn Survivors. I initially became a volunteer for the Burns Foundation Australia this organisation then had a name change to Peter Hughes Burn Foundation where I took over as CEO on a volunteer basis. Adult burns retreats were a yearly occurrence and I continued in this role for a few years. When PHBF closed the doors I approached Julian Burton about becoming involved as a volunteer. I was an Ambassador for Julian Burton Burns for approx 4 years and continued to help with the yearly Burns Forums. Now that JBT has ceased I am now involved with Burnslife as a volunteer. I wanted to be on the committee so I could give back and support other Burn Survivors in their journey to recovery. What is the Ultimate outcome you want to see from this forum? I would love to see Burns Victims become Burn Survivors from the forum in May. I have met many Burn Survivors over the years and some have become friends for life. I get great pleasure out of helping others and a sense of self worth.
