23.01.2022 IMPORTANT NOTICE: CANCELLED: Camp Corroborree - May 2020 As everyone is aware we are living in extraordinary and extremely challenging times as governments and health experts across the world battle to check the unprecedented spread of Covid-19. Our new world imposes social distancing for those who are well and social isolation for those with symptoms which makes it practically and logistically impossible to gather together in groups. The BSF, being committed to the... physical and psychological health and wellbeing of our burn survivor families and our staff, has had no alternative but to cancel our scheduled May 2020 camp. We encourage everyone to use the social distancing and isolation measures as an opportunity to build even closer connections to those most important people in your lives. Fear and distress are very normal emotional responses to this situation. Be creative and think about what you can do as a family to address the stressors or fear that many are experiencing. Talking honestly and openly about the common fears being expressed is important as is ensuring that the conversation is reassuring and appropriate for the developmental stages of children. Games and movies are great distractions but meditating together can be a great healing tool as well. There are many free meditation apps that can be downloaded to get you started. Please be assured that it is the BSF Committee’s intention to resume our bi-annual camps as soon as this world crisis resolves. 19.01.2022 As we piece together our schedule for The Burnslife National Adult Burn Survivor Education and Support Forum 2020 we would like to start introducing you to some... of the amazing presenters that will be joining us. With a mix of medical professionals who will be sharing their wealth of knowledge with us and fellow survivors sharing their personal experiences and stories of survival. Meet Carol, a fun and bubbly woman with an amazing story of survival on many levels who will be not only joining us for duration of the forum as a fellow survivor but also will be sharing her story with us all in hopes of inspiring and encouraging others to continue to work towards their goals and live life to the max. Hey my name is Carol. I was burnt in a house fire in 2000 to 85% of my body. They never found out what happened so never had real complete closure. I have though learnt to accept and move forward on my journey of Life After Adversity and achieved more then what I thought. I enjoy sharing not only with burn survivors but people who have experienced loss on different levels. We all have a story and look forward to sharing with you all.
