17.01.2022 BURNT STORE ARTIST PROFILE - Lynne Bickhoff "I paint objects as I think them, not as I see them", (Pablo Picasso). When I read this quote, I felt an immediate affinity as I too paint intuitively and work from something that comes from deep within. Inspiration often comes from memories of places I've usually lived in as this is where I've formed the strongest connection with the landscape. I utilise my emotional responses to the landscape to express myself in an almost abst...ract way to paint an interpretative view of the subject. Each landscape has its own energy and induces different reactions, for instance my work drawn from living in a remote part of Central Queensland, is very different from work evoked by time spent living on the coast. Now living in Gippsland with towering mountain ash forests and lush green rolling hills, I'm inspired by the shapes, textures and colours that surround me daily. My art practice often seems to imitate the natural world as I build up layers and then strip certain ones away, much the same way as the landscape will be built up and eroded. The medium I enjoy working with the most is mixed media, combining acrylic and polymer paint with inks, shellac, conte crayon, oil sticks and charcoal to present work with the depth of layering I find in the landscapes themselves. Lynne's work "White Sallee" is available for purchase at the Burnt Store Art Space at Lardner Park with 20% commission from the sale of any purchase being donated to the West Gippsland Hospital and the Neerim District Soldiers Memorial Hospital. #gippslandartists #art #inyourbackyard Baw Baw Shire Council Visit Baw Baw Inspired by Gippsland #supportlocal #gippsland Creative Gippsland Regional Arts Victoria
08.01.2022 ARTIST PROFILE | Gary Miles His works are landscape based, to gain a knowledge of living, working, existing and surviving land. The thrill of observing beauty, wild weather patterns and changes in surfaces and the way man manipulates as far as he can. The landscape will always revert back through the erosions of time. Gary's work gives the impression of being apart of the natural landscape, which is seen in his paintings. To live and observe, watch the way the land is cr...eated and watch how the landscape moves and changes. Gary's paintings are a dance of line, marks, colour and a placement of paint onto canvas. This creates a unique language which is translated in all his works, "a language of Miles way putting down" not traditional, not abstract, but a definite play of paint. Gary's work is available for viewing and purchase at the Burnt Store Art Space at Lardner Park with 20% commission from the sale of any purchase being donated to the West Gippsland Hospital Supporters and the Neerim District Soldiers Memorial Hospital. #gippslandartists #art #inyourbackyard #garymiles Regional Arts Victoria Visit Baw Baw Visit Gippsland Creative Victoria Creative Gippsland Baw Baw Arts Alliance Celebrate Baw Baw See more
