16.01.2022 One of the things which has irked me about using Social Media for a cafe business is the nature of feedback. Every day we send people away with a smile on their face. It is so common to get someone come up to the counter and tell us they have enjoyed our food, coffee or service. They feel good and they enjoy to share that. And we deserve it because I know how hard my staff and myself work to get it right. ... Not so with negative feedback. Sometimes we get it wrong. It may be the pressure of too many through the door at one time and sometimes it is as simple as someone having different idea about the way a food should be! [Is it not human to err?] Anyway, people do not like to share their negative thoughts across a counter. It is confronting! So social media becomes a much easier place to air their dissatisfaction. This makes the feedback here an untrue reflection of what it should be. Just think about all the meals you have made in your life and remember one that did not turn out right. Now give yourself a score out of 10 for that meal and apply that to your whole life as if it is indicative of every meal you have made! 2 out of 10? Is that the score for your "personal cafe"? Would you put that on your wall as if it is who you always are? Can you really take one experience of a place and score that place on that one experience? Can you take one negative moment in your whole life and call that your life? 2 out of 10 for that idea! See more

13.01.2022 As the boss and owner of the Burntwood Cafe, I have been too busy to make any posts to point but I would like to thank my beautiful son Kito for all his amazing help and creativity and the posts that he has done so far. He has been an inspiration to me and the cafe and the reason for the great quality that we can offer everyone. Thanks to Ayla and Tony for your initial support and counsel also Opening and running a venture like this is somewhat of a challe...nge! It is extremely hard work, long hours and at times overwhelming. Thanks to all of the staff who have added to things in just a short 5 months - to those already gone - Becky - a truly hard working and caring person who was always looking to do her best. Danika - you shining light! I hope you find what you are looking for. Garlo - the connector! It is great to see your face come in the door when you do at times still! And Rachel - Good luck with the study. And to those still hanging in there! Bailey - I know you are always trying your hardest. Jessie - I am going to adopt you! You're a keeper! Cherree - how do you do all that work and still keep my kitchen so clean? And welcome Micheal!! And also to my beautiful wife Anny and daughter Jori. Thanks for nourishing my heart and body through these last few months!!! And to all our regulars who bring smiles to our hearts every day - thanks!!! You know who you are. The best part of this job is laughing and joking with you and the camaraderie in those precious moments you give us! I would like to keep these posts real as I do with all my life. This is a cafe/restaurant. It is not a finished/polished thing. It is a work in progress. We have had our ups and downs. We have made mistakes and we will probably make lots more but please be reassured - we are doing everything we can to improve every aspect of what we are doing so that every person who enters here has the best coffee and food that we can bring to the table. We will not stop trying to improve all the aspects of our cafe and bring you yummy,nourishing food in a great atmosphere! [Read the upcoming pizza story for more on that one!] At no time think that what you get today will be the same tomorrow because we are already working hard to make tomorrow better than today.
