25.01.2022 Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Burpengary State School 6th November 18th November. Parents will be unable to attend the Bookfair, however students will visit to write their wish lists. Payments for orders can be made online. We will provide photos and more details shortly.

17.01.2022 Library Competition Year 1 and Year 2 are in their final days of competitions. Each book that they borrow and read they earn points for their class. Every week the Year 1 points convert to ‘petrol’ for their car to move along the road and the Year 2’s earn another segment for their Dr Seuss Hat. As you can see, it is a very close competition between a few classes. Each class will receive Scholastic Book Club vouchers for participating in the competition. It was been lovely to have the library so busy with borrowing and the excitement on the children’s faces when they know they are contributing to their class prize.

13.01.2022 Thank you to our community for your support of the Scholastic Bookfair. It was a huge success. We sold just over $7000 in books and merchandise, which has given the school $2100 in Scholastic Vouchers. These vouchers are given out to students and teachers who are the winners of competitions we hold in the library.

12.01.2022 Library News: Book Week officially runs from 17 October 23 October. The theme this year is ‘Curious Creatures, Wild Minds. We will celebrate the conclusion of Book Week with a dress up day on Friday 23 October. Students can think of a book character they can come dressed as on the day. This year they may stay in their costumes all day providing they can still go about their daily learning. We are fundraising for the Pyjama Foundation and would appreciate a Gold ...Coin Donation to this worthy cause. Here are some tips to help you organise your costumes: Tip 1: Have your children look at the characters in the books they borrow to see if they can find anything in their cupboard at home that would suit. Sometimes it is just a matter of matching a coloured shirt with jeans and adding some sort of prop to make it all come together. Tip 2: Get together some coordinating colours and a homemade mask and/or ears. Some character ideas that would work using this method could be... a Brown Bear from ‘The Very Cranky Bear’, a black cat from ‘Slinky Malinki’, coloured T-Shirt over jeans and white or red sneakers with big paper coloured buttons from ‘Pete the Cat’ series. Tip 3: Visit cheap shops for simple props such as capes, wigs, novelty headbands, or masks that can be added to normal clothes to create a costume. Some easy characters to create could be a scarecrow, mouse or rabbit.

They loved playing duck, duck, goose, running under the parachute and manoeuvring their way through the obstacle course. 01.01.2022 Today marks the official start of Bookweek 2020. Lots of Competitions and activities will be in the Library each day and Library staff will be dressed up. Can you guess the book I am from today. CLUE: I love to eat flies, but I don’t know why. DON’T FORGET Student Dress Up Day is Friday.
