20.01.2022 I am told not to be embarrassed by my not-so-black Mediterranian breeding :-) so here is my frozen semen orange-grey girl Rada by RAINBOW out of MALVINA (O-B-On...e AI x Madonna) who,, as i am told, despite her colour is a good milk production prospect :-) Will wait and see. Now she is just a happy little buffalo coming to the dairy with her mum every day to play with humans. See more

19.01.2022 Back to the early days of our lifetime mozzarella-making adventures :-)

18.01.2022 Fleur se repose dans les champs de fleurs! Today we celebrate

18.01.2022 Peter and William are the heart and spirit of this area we now call home. Many extraordinary things are possible with them: our little cozy perfect cheese production room, much of farm infrastructure and a quick helpful hand in emergency and animal rescue situations. A solid wall in times of need, land knowledge and wisdom, humorous kind touch to all living things and of course the amazing make us feel connected and belong. Good health to Peter! Stay strong

16.01.2022 apologies to the lovely customers who came for mozzarella today during a few hours since all mozzarella sold out and before the new batch was made... Just delivered to the Gazebo and Blueys Cellars and Deli - hot & ready to enjoy!

16.01.2022 much goofing around and laughter at the farm with this very familiar Oxford-based, currently Australia-grounded vet/animal fertility researcher Dr Aleona Swegen! meanwhile lots of attention and diagnostics given to the buffaloes and their reproduction! + = Scanning for pregnancies taken to the new level of accuracy, and artificial inseminations to the highest levels of precision! Happy goofy (re)productive times

14.01.2022 Just received a copy of The Sydney Morning Herald Good Food - a surprise and the excitement of being mentioned in such glorious company of distinguished Australian-made cheeses

12.01.2022 "Since colonisation Australia’s dingoes have been relentlessly persecuted, mostly in the name of protecting farm animals. The archaic and cruel methods used to kill them remain largely unchanged in 200 years, not only causing significant suffering and failing to address the issue of predation, but putting Australia’s unique biodiversity at risk by disrupting naturally functioning ecosystems." Thanks to Evan Quartermain and HSI for their tireless ongoing commitment for Dingo protection.

12.01.2022 Windy sunny days ahead! #buffaloesofburraduc #centralasianshepherd #livestockguardiandog

12.01.2022 There is absolutely no justification to this horror. Be outraged and disgusted. There is no such thing as a "wild dog" - the correct name for that mythical animal is Dingo. The happiness with 1080 poison is the grossly inappropriate happiness about cruel and indiscriminate killing of Australian wildlife, mostly targeting an apex Australian land predator the dingo while other native and non-native animals (quolls, livestock guardian dogs, pets) have to die along the way.

12.01.2022 Lucie - a member of our special French Squad, gentle handler of precious balls and delicate crafter of fresh DolceNina. Thank you Lucie for all your help through the turbulent first half of 2020! We miss you and hope you are enjoying your new adventures

10.01.2022 It takes a village... Alessya isn’t quite sure how to coax her newborn calf to brave the creek but luckily another mumma helps her out with a gentle nudge #buffaloesofburraduc

09.01.2022 Once again on offer to our local, Sydney and Newcastle City Farmers Market customers is a selection of primary cuts, mince, roasts, various slow-cooking cuts, gluten-free sausages. Available in #BurraducGazebo and at www.burraducbuffalo.com.au - beautiful, tender pasture raised, organically managed buffalo meat. "A study done by the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition in September 2010 showed and came to the conclusion that the consumption of Tender Buff (water buffalo m...eat) seems to be associated with several beneficial effects on cardiovascular risk profile, specifically, water buffalo meat has less fat and is richer in proteins. An extensive research shows that recent consumers of water buffalo meat showed a significant decrease in total cholesterol and triglycerides level, lower pulse wave velocity, as well as a more blunted response to oxidative stress in comparison with subjects who had never consumed water buffalo meat. Findings suggest that water buffalo meat could be recommended as a safer and healthier alternative to cow meat, whereas continuing to provide a substantial proportion of the recommended daily allowance of protein. The taste of the water buffalo meat is very similar to beef but it is considered a healthier alternative because buffalo meat contains less fat and cholesterol, and more protein than beef. Buffalo meat fat is white and buffalo meat is always darker in color because of more pigmentation or less intramuscular fat. Buffalo meat is very low in fat Lowest cholesterol level of all domestic meat Less saturated fat than beef or lamb Contains significant amounts of omega-3 polyunsaturated fats, which are believed to be protective against heart disease and other inflammatory disorders." (All the above were from suggested studies, references available)

08.01.2022 Good baby! Baby #1 has arrived - Rada (daughter of Malvina, granddaughter of Madonna) just calved at sunrise beating Melania, Anya and Bec Welcome the little girl!

07.01.2022 We haven't been ignored by SBS Australia! were interviewed recently for the story. Only a few mistakes perhaps caused by my deteriorated Russian make us look crazier than we are. We met in Moscow high school, moved to Sydney after University and were farming for the last 20 years milking jersey cows and buffaloes, never farmed race horses or goats but bred and trained Cleveland Bay horses for sport, daughter competed in dressage, daughter does not work at the farm but is a vet and a postdoc reproductive science researcher now based in Oxford UK

07.01.2022 THE SHOW MUST GO ON! Freshly made, delicious produce is available today at Newcastle City Farmers Market - hope to see our amazing supportive customers - rain, flood, storm - there is never bad weather for a good meal

06.01.2022 We are so very proud of our longstanding partnership and grateful for being so beautifully featured in this book! "Part autobiography, part farm-narrative, part eco-analysis, part recipe omnibus, this is a book that should not work. Yet its curious hybrid genre is unified and exalted by the engaging, intelligent prose, evocative images and the fact that it’s really a book about relationships."

06.01.2022 Almost unbearable cuteness at milking times in our dairy where sometimes the buffalo babies meet and play with human babies. Thank you Flo for taking good care of both species

03.01.2022 A media release from the University based around the study and research is titled It’s not ‘wild dog’ management we are just killing dingoes. The researchers also identified several ‘hotspots’ in north-eastern NSW where more pure dingoes exist than expected: Port Macquarie, Myall Lakes and the Washpool National Park area were all identified. The Myall Lakes area being identified will not be news to most locals, after all Myall means wild place. Our study shows that for all intents and purposes, wild dogs and dingoes are one and the same, says UNSW Professor Mike Letnic, co-author of the study.
