10.01.2022 Get to the chopper! African boxthorn infestations are being terminated along the Coorong. As you can see from the aerial photos, boxthorn can blend and tangle... in with native vegetation, making control a challenging task. It’s important to control weeds accurately and effectively particularly in this fragile area. To reduce infestations and to keep native habitat intact, the Our Coorong | Our Coast project is supporting boxthorn control via helicopter across the Coorong, with another flight set to take off in September. Great news for the migratory birds and endangered resident beach nesting birds that rely on this healthy habitat to survive, and to ensure they’ll be back for generations. , ’ .

09.01.2022 It’s Plover Appreciation Day [edit: tomorrow!] We’re recognising ground-nesting plovers, including the vulnerable Hooded Plover that breeds in our coastal are...as. Hoodie breeding habitats are at risk due to human disturbance and introduced predators. The Our Coorong | Our Coast project has partnered with Friends of Shorebirds South East and BirdLife Australia to protect Hoodies in the Coorong and along the Limestone Coast, working to reduce some of these threats through pest animal control programs. You can help too! Look out for Hoodies on your local beach and make sure to keep your distance from breeding zones. : Photos by Sarah and Jeff Campbell #loveaplover

08.01.2022 - : A number of new restrictions will be implemented for South Australia from midnight t...onight as a hard and fast approach to containing the Northern Suburbs COVID-19 cluster. From midnight tonight, the following restrictions will come into place for the entire state of South Australia: Gyms, recreation centres, trampoline and play cafes will close. Pubs, clubs and restaurants will be capped at 100 per venue, with a limit of 1 person per 4 square metres and no stand up consumption (even outdoors) and a maximum booking of 10 people. Funerals will now be capped to 50 people, with a limit of 1 person per 4 square metres. Churches will be capped at 100 people, with a limit of 1 person per 4 square metres. For weddings, all guests must be registered with the CDCB via an online form, but there are no other changes at this stage. Gatherings at private residences are now capped at 10 people per residence. Private gatherings at licensed venues will now be capped at 50, with a limit of 1 person per 4 square metres and no stand up consumption. Community sports fixtures and training will be temporarily canceled. Outdoor fitness activities such as boot camps can continue. All activities with an approved COVID Management Plan scheduled for the next two weeks will be cancelled. For personal care activities such as nail salons, tattoo parlours and hairdressers, masks will be mandatory for the service provider and encouraged for the client. Theatres and cinemas will revert back to the 1 per 4 square metre rule. Schools will remain open. In regards to aged care facilities, masks will be mandatory where physical distancing can not be maintained and personal care workers are limited to one site only. Each person will be allowed two visitors per day. The Premier also advised that people work from home where possible, and that vulnerable people stay home and to avoid having visitors. It's also being advised that people don't travel unneccessarily, and to wear a mask at times where it's not possible to socially distance, such as when using public transport. At this point, it's expected that restrictions will be in place for two weeks, though this can be adjusted depending on how the situation develops. On this matter, Premier Steven Marshall said "We don't want to keep these new and changed restrictions in place for one day longer than what we need to, but the health expert advice at the moment is very clear. We are to act hard and early and keep these restrictions in place for as short a period of time as possible."
