23.01.2022 VALE - Brendan Lynch 29 October 2020 It is with a heavy heart that I advise our members of the Burraneer Junior Rugby Club and greater community that today we lost a good one. ... Brendan has battled with great courage, against the odds for many years against Cancer. During this time his love and devotion to his family and the rugby club has never wained. Brendan was a well-respected & encouraging member of Burraneer Rugby Club and always had a positive smile on his face when watching his son(Patrick) play. Brendan was also a passionate member of North Cronulla Surf club and was fastidious in the safety of the community whilst under his watch on the beach. We are all thinking of his wife Anna, his children Sienna and Patrick, as well as his family back in Ireland our community is very proud to have known such a lovely person and of what he achieved here. He touched many a heart and will be sorely missed. May he rest in peace. Matt Kennedy, President
22.01.2022 Please welcome our 2020 u13s girls 7s team. The Girls will travel to Narrabeen to partake in the Manly Warringah 7s tournament to be held this Sunday. 21.01.2022 Burraneer Under 10’s took a trip to Forshaw this afternoon to see Southern Districts Rugby Club take on Newcastle & Hunter Rugby to celebrate the end of their 2020 comp. This pic is from the second grade match when Southern were camped on the Newcastle line. The boys were mesmerised by the close-up view of the scrum. They then took a Wallabies rugby quiz before the start of the first grade game. The goal was for the team to see Rugby up close and comprehend their positions ...and movement across the field. It was fantastic for them to see the game they play in heaven up close and learn at the Shute Shield level. Looking forward to a full season in 2021 and future Southern seniors players and ambassadors of the game. Sydney Junior Rugby Union
21.01.2022 Congratulations to U15’s player Caleb Murphy who has been selected for the NSW Gen Blue. Another great achievement by one of our local players!

20.01.2022 Hi Burra Club family, please see below one of our dads who has a young girl playing for Burra is fundraising for a worthy cause especially in the current COVID19 climate. As you all may or may not know I have personally been affected by serious mental health issues as my eldest 17 year old son has been battling mental health demons over the last few years. The more exposure we can get to mental health is a positive for any sufferers as it’s not a taboo topic and funding for r...esearch is needed.. Hi I signed up to raise much-needed funds for the Black Dog Institute through their One Foot Forward initiative. Almost half way through and my pledge to walk 200km in October is on track. I'm sure we all know someone who suffers from mental illness or have lost someone to suicide so these funds for mental health research and suicide prevention that the gov won't fund are so crucial to helping sufferers and saving lives. This cause is dear to my heart and head as Black Dog have assisted me navigating life living with mental illness. I'm walking under the banner of Burraneer Rugby Club as this was where I found solace and support through the darkest days. I'm in a good position as I've walked almost half of my 200km. Hoping you kind people can fuel my fire by donating and pushing my km's walked higher. Much love and be kind we don't know everyone's struggles. https://www.onefootforward.org.au/fundraiser/dankritzler
18.01.2022 I would just like to put this out there. If your children are not around special needs children at school, and have never been taught that not everyone is the same, then maybe you could take 10 minutes tonight to explain this to them. Because even though they may not be around these children at school, they will encounter them in their lives, as it should be. In the light of recent events on the exclusion of a child who has autism from participating in a school trip, and a ch...ild with Down Syndrome being kicked out of dance class because she couldn't keep up, I feel the need to share this. There are boys and girls that nobody invites to birthday parties. There are special kids who want to belong to a team but don't get selected because it is more important to win than to include these children. Children with special needs are not rare or strange; they only want what everyone else wantsto be accepted !! For all the wonderful children out there. Can I ask a question? Is there anyone willing to copy and paste this post to their wall without sharing it, like I did for those special children out there? Please teach your children to be kind to these beautiful children!

15.01.2022 The mighty Under 14’s played today against a very daunting (in size) Liverpool team at John Dwyer Oval. They didn’t come away with a win, but it was a brilliant game of rugby played in the true spirit of the game. Special mention to Burraneer's Jack Prowse, who played for Liverpool, so that all of the boys could get a full game. ... Also great Credit to the Liverpool boys, for their sportsmanship against a much smaller but very brave Burraneer side. It was a positive mental learning for our boys as they played better than they thought they could! They really stepped up physically ... That's the Burra Spirit!!!

15.01.2022 Burra Girls 7s Rugby Update Saturday evening was the girls final round of 7s Rugby for the season. Our U16, U14 and U12 girls all played the season in the spirit that the Burraneer Rugby Community should be proud of.... Our U16s played their Finals against Wests and our District Sisters Rockdale. The girls played well and with great spirit. Well done girls, we are very proud of what you have accomplished and look forward to helping you continue to develop into first class 7s Rugby players. A special mention must go to Ally the girls manager and the two Daves, Coach Dave (Mc) and assistant Coach Dave (C) for all their support and development of the girls over the season. The U14 girls also had Finals where they played against Randwick (Magic) and Norwest (Bulls). The girls kicked off with a big win against Randwick but unfortunately came up short against Norwest. These young ladies have skills aplenty and all year they have shown that movement of the ball creates opportunities and that is what the do best. It has been a great year for the girls made possible by a fantastic group of parents and coaching staff. Thanks to Russel, Clint, Christie and Karen for all your work on and off the field. Our U12s are a wonderful bunch of girls. Each and every week they give their all and continue smiling and enjoying themselves. You girls are legends and the entire Burra Rugby family are very proud of you and love seeing you in the yellow and blue.

06.01.2022 Please tentatively put these dates in your diary!!! Hi All We are edging closer to what has certainly been a challenging year. Normally we are gearing up for our presentation day which also acts as a fundraiser for our touring 14 teams. Current rules do not allow this... Our president Matt Kennedy has asked me to convey to you that it is proposed we hand out trophies on Saturday 10th or Sunday 11th October. This will be done in a staggered way e.g. 1 hour windows for age groups. Further details to follow after next weeks Committee meeting. In the meantime please send me through 2 nominations for each team for trophy winners. E.g Best and fairest, best Back, Best Forward, Most Improved etc. For age groups under 13’s upwards please let me know if there are any 10 year award winners. Enjoy the last 2 weeks of Rugby.
03.01.2022 Last weekend our Southern Districts Girls u13s participated in the Manly-Warringah 7s tournament where they played 5 games in 3hrs and came away with three go...od wins. It was hot and the opposition was first class. The girls stepped up with some quality 7s Rugby and they enjoyed playing in the Sothern Districts (Candy stripe) jerseys. Our Rugby community should be very proud of these young ladies as they performed fanatically on and off the field. Special thanks to our Southern District's older sisters the Rebelettes for mentoring, supplying jerseys, and tent, the girls and Families all appreciated your assistance. We can’t forget the amazing parents and siblings for their effort getting the girls to training and the Tournament. See more
