24.01.2022 Join us at Burra South Australia as we remember the last great charge of the Australian Light Horse Brigade.
24.01.2022 On this day in 1992 the last steam train to visit Burra arrived just before 1.30 p m carrying 500 passengers. The train stayed for 1 hours and the passengers were able to purchase a sausage sizzle lunch. There was quite a gala appearance with the presence of a jazz combo, tea, coffee, scones and an art and craft stalls. The National Trust’s Diamond T fire engine provided rides around Burra North while the engine’s water tanks were replenished by the Burra CFS. By this date Australian National had declared the track to be unsafe for passenger travel but light engines ran on the track until 2004

22.01.2022 Lovely post from South Australia's Best Kept Secret.
21.01.2022 The elected members of the Regional Council of Goyder visited the station for lunch yesterday. The Friends of the Burra Railway Station used the opportunity to talk about what has been achieved and the planned projects for 2021. We very much appreciate the kind words from Councillor Heidi Thompson.
19.01.2022 There has been no restoration of the carriage to show lately but our garden is growing beautifully as can be seen from the then and now photographs. The peony poppies self seeded from a planting in 2016 and now we have a beautiful display. The station is well worth photographing. Thank you to all of the people who have visited lately as well as all of the guests who have stayed in our B&B. Income from donations and the B&B all goes to upkeep of the site and to our projects which we are working towards completion of next year.
15.01.2022 Here are today's photographs of the progress on resurfacing the platform shown off in this afternoons sunshine. It's looking great already.
14.01.2022 Even when its very cold in Burra our Burra Railway Station B&B is still a great place to stay. Here are two recent and very complimentary notes that guests left in the visitors book. We love feedback like this. ‘What a great place! And wonderfully presented with all the great little details. Could not have been a better retreat on cold winter days after exploring the fascinations of Burra... A gem!. Well appointed and very comfortable. Congregations to all who have had, and continue to have, a hand in this unique bnb. We appreciated the welcome foods and the supply of wood on what was an incredibly cold weekend.
13.01.2022 150 Years Ago Today The Opening of the Northern Extension Railway to Burra 29 August 1870 In 1870 the line to Burra was the longest line north of Adelaide, there was cause for a great celebration. 06.01.2022 Here it is, the finished platform. It looks great. Thanks to the team from DTPI for a very neat job. Keep a look out for more great projects at the Burra Railway Station and please ask your friends to follow and like this page.
04.01.2022 This week there has been great activity at the Burra Station with preparation to relay the asphalt and not before time as it was very cracked and a trip hazard. Watch this page for updates next week. Please like this page and tell your friends about it. The former Burra Railway Station is a great place to visit. We are thrilled with the number of visitors during the school holidays, with the station only open from 11.00 am- 1.00 pm the numbers have been outstanding. More exciting things happening in time for a great celebration in August next year.
