20.01.2022 Hey cider lovers. As you may be aware we have been closed for a while. Unfortunately due to ongoing drought conditions we have lost our entire crop of apples (again) due to premature bird pick. This means we will remain closed for the next few months as we will be restructuring!! On to the good news. In this time we are going to build a facility on site for a micro brewery. This will add beer to the menu and give us something to do if and when drought conditions hit us again.... Apologies for the disappearing act but stay tuned as we are going to keep you informed of our progress. Heres a big cheers to onwards and upwards in beautifull Burra. Scrumpy Tim.

11.01.2022 GOYDERS LINE - STARK REALITY West Burra East Burra - same day... This drought is a bloody tragedy, and we feel for all those doing it tough - especially in... the driest parts of our state, and rural Australia It was 1865, when Surveyor General George Goyder drew his rainfall line across South Australia. This deliniation is still recognised today, 150 years later. The line marks the noted transition between reliable cropping environments and those only suited to grazing the nominal separation of farmland and pastoral country. Using vegetation as his indicator, Goyder’s task was to delineate the country where rainfall was reliable and where drought prevailed. This transition zone is highly sensitive to any climate variation, especially rainfall, and has changed over time depending on the sequence of good and poor cropping seasons and technological advancements. Considering his limited resources, he did a pretty good job, with his line remaining a reference point ever since These pictures, taken today by Jill Wilson, tell the story. Picture one is west of Burra, and picture two, the east of Burra. #drought #bigdry #godscountry #ruralaustralia #goyder #goydersline #burra #bloodydrought #droughtawareness #ruralsouthaustralia #worldsend #robertstown #outback Drought Angels Buy A Bale Regional Development Australia Yorke and Mid North Liberal Party of Australia ABC North and West Stock Journal The Plains Producer, newspaper Northern Argus The Advertiser Flow FM Australia : Jill Wilson, Burra.
