25.01.2022 FOR SATURDAY 28 NOVEMBER 20 ALL FIRE PERMITS REMAIN SUSPENDED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE The heat wave that is forecast to dominate our district in the next couple of days brings with it increased risk of fire.... Review and refresh your Bushfire Survival Plan Report any unattended fire to Triple Zero immediately. Take care in using any outdoor machinery such as slashers, brush cutters, mowers etc. They can strike rocks and cause sparks which can start a grass fire, or the heat of exhausts can have the same result. Stay cool. Stay indoors where possible and keep hydrated. Look after neighbours (especially elderly), pets, stock and so on. Summer is here. Let’s enjoy it but keep our awareness and preparedness up so we enjoy it safely. PREPARE. ACT. SURVIVE.

21.01.2022 For Monday 23 November 20

20.01.2022 85 year old Wingecarribee resident Bill Dunn has spent his life serving others. For 70 years, he's volunteered for the Rural Fire Service. In that time firefighting equipment, training and techniques have changed, but not Bill's unwaivering commitment to protecting his community.

20.01.2022 BUSHFIRE DANGER PERIOD COMMENCES 1 OCTOBER. The Statutory Bushfire Danger Period commences on 1st October. As such permits will be required for burning in the Wingecarribee and Wollondilly Shires. In addition to obtaining a Permit to burn, Permit holders must complete the online Intention to burn on the NSW RFS website, plus notify neighbours at least 24 hours prior to the planned burn. The online Intention to Burn form can be found at https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/fire-inf...orm//burn-notifications Completion of this is an essential requirement and by doing so you might likely prevent an unnecessary call on volunteer firefighters to attend your property. 11.01.2022 It’s grass like this that make firefighters nervous. Here near Bungendore, the grass is not completely ‘cured’ or dry, however hot weather accelerates this proc...ess. In other areas like the Riverina, the grass has cured. This, combined with today’s hot, dry and windy weather makes for dangerous fire weather. For this reason a total fire ban is in place for the Northern, Southern and Eastern Riverina. Report unattended fires to Triple Zero. Have a safe day and stay cool. #nswrfs #grassfires See more
