24.01.2022 Well done, John and thank you for your continued service! Our squad is proud of you for reaching this milestone.

24.01.2022 Look out for yourself and your mates these summer holidays, particularly if youre heading to the dam or river. Here are some simple safety tips to keep in mind when on the water:

23.01.2022 FATALITY FREE FRIDAY Today is a chance for all motorists to reflect on their behaviour when behind the wheel; be it driving a car, riding a bike or operating a boat. This nation-wide initiative aims to encourage motorists to consider their actions behind the wheel in an effort to reduce serious injury and fatal collisions.... Road trauma in particular is the number one killer of Australian children aged 14 and under, and is the second highest killer of young people under 24. So far this year 160 lives have been cut short on NSW roads, and of that figure 104 have occurred on regional roads. These are our mates, our parents, our children and colleagues. So today we ask you to take the pledge, to #ChooseRoadSafety and to help save lives on our roads. #TowardsZero #vrarescue #roadsafety #FatalityFreeFriday #emergencyservices #rescue #volunteers

21.01.2022 Its going to be hotter than a shearers armpit across NSW this week with five days above 40C predicted for this week. The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast severe/ extreme heatwave conditions for NSW, increasing the potential of serious impacts on the publics health. We urge you to be prepared to beat the heat, and to be responsible should you find yourself enjoying Burrendong Dam. ... Health tips: 1. Drink plenty of water, even if you dont feel thirsty. 2. Keep cool - wear light, loose fitting clothes, stay out of the sun, apply sunscreen and wear a hat. 3. Take care of others - keep an eye on your elderly friends, neighbours and relatives or those more prone to struggling in the heat. 4. Know the signs of heat related illness and how to treat it. Water safety tips: 1. Check the depth of the water and look for submerged objects - dont jump or dive into the water 2. Never swim alone 3. Avoid drugs and alcohol around water 4. Wear a lifejacket 5. Actively supervise children around water. 6. Tell someone where youre going, when youll be back, and take a phone with you Sources: NSW Health: https://www.health.nsw.gov.au//beattheh/Pages/default.aspx Water safety: http://www.watersafety.nsw.gov.au/ Reflections Holiday Parks Lake Burrendong Reflections Holiday Parks Mookerawa Waters

20.01.2022 training / meeting 0930 start 1130 finish sunday 08 09 2019

19.01.2022 Hi ALL meeting at burrendong HQ 0900 SUNDAY 06 01 2019 all welcome

13.01.2022 A great find of photos documenting the recovery of a light plane from the Burrendong Dam some 13 years after it plummeted into the dam. This was undoubtedly one of the most significant projects the Burrendong Rescue Squad has been tasked with since its formation, assisting the NSW Police Force during efforts to locate and bring the wreckage to the surface. Sadly, the body of one female passenger remains outstanding to this day. ... #vrarescue

12.01.2022 We will have company on the Burrendong Dam this holiday period with Police on jetskis patrolling our inland waterways for the first time ever. The Burrendong Rescue Squad supports this initiative to keep the public safe as they take to the water during what is anticipated to be a long, hot summer. Be sure to make smart choices when taking to waterways over the coming months, as well as in your own backyard. See you on the water!... #vrarescue #BurrendongDam #inlandwaterways #watersafety #emergencyservices #rescue

08.01.2022 Please be mindful should you receive a call of a similar nature.

06.01.2022 Our volunteers were kept busy over the first weekend of 2019 with two calls for assistance on Saturday. Captain Rick Pascoe said the Burrendong Rescue Squad was activated to two boating incidents, one being a partial sinking and the other providing assistance to a member of the public. "Days like these act as a reminder of the importance of having a rescue squad available at the Burrendong Dam to offer assistance to the public in times of need," he said.... For anyone interested in becoming a member of the Burrendong Rescue Squad give Rick a call on 0448 752 400.

05.01.2022 Some incredible photos of Lake Burrendong which show just how low the waterline is getting. Although you can never be sure what is under the waters surface, you can be guaranteed our members will respond if you find yourself in trouble. #vrarescue #burrendongrescuesquad #lakeburrendong #rescue
