24.01.2022 Club historian Ian Scholefield writes an inspiring and beautiful article chronicling the journey of our coach, friend and teammate - Patrick 'Sowsa' Sowersby. Ian writes in great detail on Pat's journey in cricket and footy and his talent and love for the game. A Beautiful Christmas article worth multiple reads.... A big thank you to both Ian and Pat for their services to the club. http://bdcc.vic.cricket.com.au/pageitem.aspx

23.01.2022 #tuesdaytrivia 6 Chris Eichler, first played for BDCC in 1964-65 and was a handy middle-order batsman and a dangerous right arm medium pace bowler with his unique hop and dragging his fingers across the seam. He was a member the first eleven premiership team in 1969/70 (the first in BHRDCA) and captained the thirds to a pennant in 1972-73. He played 125 games for the club until 1988/89 scoring 2793 runs - 11 fifties and capturing 194 wickets - 5 bags of 5 dismissals. His son ...Mark also represented our club in 113 games from 1981/82 to 1992/93. Chris was through and through Cricket man personally and professionally. He worked as an audio technician on television for Channel Nine. When World Series Cricket was developed for the 1977/78 season Chris was at the forefront of introduction of innovations like the stump microphone. He was in the credits for International cricket from that time. Story Credit - Ian Scholefield

23.01.2022 Round 6 matches over the weekend saw the First XI’s juggernaut rolling ahead with a fifth victory in a row. Ravi Tattitali carrying the team home not out. The Seniors Third XI side too got back to winning ways with captain Mark Blundell scoring a 50 and the legend Adrian ‘Dogman’ Reus getting to 950 club wickets. While our star player from the juniors, Jeremy continued his blistering form with all-round performance to help the Burwood District White to victory. A break now f...or two weeks to recharge our batteries and come back roaring. Go the Burra!!

21.01.2022 Congratulations to our Social Media guru Abhishek Pratap who made his club debut in fine style on Saturday. After receiving his cap from Life Member Ian Scholefield, who Abhishek has worked with to produce our club Tuesday Trivia content. He then went on to bowl a six over spell to take 4/14 and come close to winning the low scoring game for the team.

21.01.2022 Only an hour to go! So get your walk or run in now! Come back, pop the kettle on, or grab a beer and join in the chat! See you soon!

15.01.2022 A tough weekend for BDCC. 1 win out of 6 for Burra teams including Seniors and Juniors. The First XI team winning a thriller at Hartwell against Blackburn South. 14.01.2022 #tuesdaytrivia 9 Brett Lee was one of the fastest bowlers across all generation of cricketers. Representing Australia, he picked up 690 wickets in International Cricket. His fastest ball was clocked at 161.1 km/h (100.1 mph) against New Zealand in 2005. Known as ‘Binga’, Lee was also briefly called ‘Oswald’ by his International and state captain Steve Waugh. Now, how did he get that name has a political affiliation to it. During an ODI in 2000 Steve Waugh was checking the ba...tting order. On number 7 was Shane Lee, number 8 was Ian Harvey and number 9 was Brett. Looking at the batting order, Waugh instead of reading ‘Lee, Harvey, Lee’, read ‘Lee, Harvey, Oswald’. Cheekily connecting him to the 1963 assassination of the American President John F Kennedy’s by the man named Lee Harvey Oswald. Thus, giving Lee his brief nickname. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hl0Wc6TaokI

03.01.2022 Unfortunately the Burra's first T20 game for the season ended in a narrow loss, losing by 2 wickets in the last over to Blackburn North United. Despite falling short, there were a lot of positives to take from the game including a double wicket maiden for Nick Arnold in his first over for the club. Great Debut Nick! The boys will be back in a fortnight looking to make amends and get some points on the board!

01.01.2022 Thanks to Ian Scholefield who sent this through today. Apparently our club song in the 80s was very similar to a VFL powerhouse of the same time. Thoughts?
