25.01.2022 We have reached the mid-way point for the Urban Search and Rescue Technician Course! Our participants have now completed two weeks of fully immersive training:... Here they have expanded on prior learning and acquired completely new skill sets. This has included ongoing training in technical roping, technical search, heavy lift, metal cutting, concrete cutting/breaching and shoring. As we commence week 3 of the course, participants are beginning to ‘stack’ these skills in an integrated approach to training scenarios. 18.01.2022 We’ve been busy today, don’t make it harder for us! Conducting your own private fireworks display this New Year’s Eve may seem fun but it could lead to heavy fi...nes or even jail time. A total fire ban is in place for New Year’s Eve and the penalties for disobeying them are severe: $2,200 on the spot fine; if the matter goes to court, a fine of up to $5,500 and/or 12 months jail; and if a fire escapes and damages or destroys life, property or the environment, it can attract fines up to $132,000 and/or 14 years jail.

18.01.2022 At 0915hrs this morning, Burwood Fire and Rescue NSW along with Campsie Fire Station attended a Motor Vehicle Accident where an elderly lady was hit by a car, suffering an open fracture to the foot. Due to the damage to the garage, the structural integrity of the building was deemed unsafe and had to be stabilised before the woman was extricated. Fire Fighters from Burwood had decided to shore the front of the garage with the use of a T-Spot Shore construction. Along with the assistance of NSW Ambulance and NSW Police Force the woman was extricated safely.

17.01.2022 Fire and Rescue NSW received 30,000 triple zero calls in December alone - that’s more than double their monthly average. Commissioner Paul Baxter joined Mark Beretta to detail how crews are managing the unprecedented bushfire crisis.

14.01.2022 We had the opportunity to meet up with our emergency team mates over at the very respected and professional, Rescue & Bomb Disposal - NSW Police Force HQ. We were treated like guests and shown the tools of the trade that these guys use, like us, to extract people and animals from life threatening situations. On top of this capability, they are also the experts in all types of bombs/IEDs and have a world class response capability to deal with those situations. Again, thanks for the hospitality and look forward to working with you on the road. #rescue #policerescue #nswpolice #nswpolicerescue #nswpolicerescuesquad
