24.01.2022 Before and After Kinder Care In response to the needs of our Kindergarten and local community, we are trialling a Before and After Kinder Care program in conjunction with the OSHClub on site at Gembrook Primary School. Educators from the Wombat Teaching Team at Gembrook Pre-School accompany children to and from OSHClub each way on a mini bus, and although its a very quick 2 minute bus trip, it is proving to be a highlight for the children! Last week we were delighted to hav...e the OSHClub staff, Shivonne and Jennifer, come to visit our Pre-School to observe the facilities and resources set up at kindergarten and maximise consistency for our kindergarten children. The trial care program will continue throughout Term One ~ please contact Gembrook Pre-School 59 681 320 for further information about the Before and After Kinder Care service, and for any general enrolment enquiries. 20.01.2022 Kindergarten Construction Zone Tuesday, 25th February Our brand new outdoor timber blocks have arrived and after being unpacked at the Working Bee on Sunday, they are already being put to great use by the Wombat Group children! Building and construction experiences support the childrens learning in many areas.... Building with blocks is an example of open ended play with no set expectations or limitations. The children are free to engage their creativity and imagination. Block play supports the development of fine and large motor skills, hand-eye co-ordination, and visual and spatial awareness. Construction also provides opportunities for social connection, collaboration and teamwork Problem solving, developing language skills, applying mathematical thinking, and more! Our Wombat Group explored their thinking about the process of building a home. They used a variety of pretend tools to perform construction tasks, including nailing with a hammer and nail gun, cutting materials with a saw, creating holes with a drill, and screwing materials together with a shifter and screwdriver. The children worked together to load and unload blocks on the trolley, as well as negotiating ideas and roles. They experimented with how high they were able to build their walls without them falling down. The Wombats expressed satisfaction and great pride in what they were able to accomplish - which in turn contributes to their confidence and sense of independence.

12.01.2022 Gembrook Pre-School Working Bee On Sunday, 23rd February, we held a Working Bee at Gembrook Pre-School to undertake gardening and maintenance tasks. We were able to complete all our planned projects for the day, thanks to the large number of families that came along to help. It was wonderful to see parents, children and staff working together for the benefit of our kindergarten community. As an independently run community kindergarten, administered by a volunteer Committee ...of Management, we greatly appreciate the input and support of our kindergarten families and local community. Special thanks to Gembrook Bakery for generously donating pizza slices, and to Mel Williamson for her delicious platter of sandwiches, which enabled us to provide lunch for all our volunteers. A great team effort! See more

09.01.2022 Wombat Group 2019 Reunion Afternoon Tea On Wednesday, 4th March, we held a Reunion Afternoon Tea at Gembrook Pre-School for the children and families in Wombat Group 2019. This was a great opportunity for children, families and staff to get back together, discuss the school transition experience and find out what everyone has been doing since the 2019 kindergarten year concluded! It was lovely to see the children who had transitioned to schools out of the area meeting up wi...th their Wombat Group friends. We also had the chance to meet Lennys baby brother born over the school holiday break. Families were able to see the recently completed renovations, including the new kitchen. Afternoon tea was prepared in the new kitchen facilities by our current group, and was provided for all to enjoy. At Gembrook Preschool we pride ourselves on providing a welcoming, caring and inclusive setting for our children, families, community and educators. By forming strong relationships with our families we create a warm and supportive environment in which childrens learning is maximised. See more

06.01.2022 Gembrook preschool renovations Families arrived for the start of the kindergarten year to find some exciting improvements had been made to our pre-school over the school holiday break. The Quality Improvement Plan at Gembrook Pre-School drives ongoing improvement in all areas of service delivery. Over recent weeks a number of our QIP goals have been achieved including: the installation of the new kitchen facility, together with a multi-functional kitchen/science centre acce...ssible to the children within the playroom upgrading office equipment the installation of a keyless entry system and new door furniture to maximise security of the building, and safety for the children reconfiguring of the locker area to improve traffic flow and maximise supervision within the playroom, and resurfacing of the vinyl flooring. Through hard work and commitment we had a very successful year of fundraising in 2019, as well as having been able to secure several grants from local community organisations. We are especially grateful to our Grants Officer, Melissa Williamson, for project managing the kitchen installation throughout the holiday period. Melissa even found time to sew matching aprons for staff! Thanks so much Mel for bringing the project to life!
