23.01.2022 More rain and the markets are cancelled again... Anyway it seems that it's almost impossible to buy a decent sloyd knife for spoon carving in Victoria so I'm making my own. 2.7mm thick high carbon steel blades and red cedar or tassie oak handles. They work a treat and hold a razor sharp edge. The handles on these knives are ready to be shaped. There's still room in the July spoon carving workshop here in Echuca so get in touch if you are interested.
22.01.2022 Just mucking around with a block of silky oak.
21.01.2022 I met a couple at the Echuca Steam Rally who wanted me to make them a potato masher on the pole lathe. After a bit of research apparently this is what was used before the plastic and metal ones we have now.
19.01.2022 G'day all. I will be demonstrating some green wood techniques and taking bookings for my Echuca carving workshops at the Moama markets this Sunday 10th of July. There are still a couple of spaces left for the July workshop so if you are interested come down and check it out. Dan.
