21.01.2022 The Brunswick Heads Visitor Information Centre Brunswick Heads Simple Pleasures is working together with holiday property owners, local businesses, residents and community groups this exciting Bushfire R & R in Bruns project. Although we have been on the job for only five weeks the response from everyone has been incredible. Our aim is to provide much needed rest and relaxation to those who have lost there homes in the recent bushfires. We are working towards providing 50 don...ated holiday properties for 1 week each during the month of February 2020. So far we have secured 44 properties which is so heartening. We are aiming fro 50! The Salvation Army is the Disaster Relief Agency who is partnering with us to take registrations from those who have lost their homes. Sam Pedlow at North Coast Lifestyle Properties in Bruns has donated her time to gather and organise all the donated properties. Sam will liaise with Divy Rathore from the Salvation Army to match the guests with the right property. On arrival, each household recipient group will receive a tailored Welcome Package, which will include cash spending money, vouchers for coffee/food, shopping and gifts. Plus invitations to free activities, such as river cruises, bootcamp, kayak hire, movies, free hair cuts for kids, breakfast in the park, sausage sizzle and drinks at the pub and more. To date, over 50 businesses have contributed to our Welcome Packages. Community groups, residents and fundraising activities have gathered over $6,100, which is over $120 over Welcome Pack. We are aiming for $200 per pack. R & R Bazzar The Bruns Public School will conduct the R & R BAZAAR each Monday morning, so that our guests are able to source all things beachy. The Bazaar will be run by the students. We are hoping that local residents and community groups can donate hats, trowels, rashies, biggie boards, fishing reels etc in good condition and new cosies. These items can be dropped into the Visitor Centre, along with cash donations anytime before the end of January. If you would like to donate items for the welcome packs please contact Valerie Hardy [email protected] generosity has been extraordinary and we know that our visitors will experience the warmth that is our village of Brunswick Heads. Recipients So far the Salvation Army has signed up 19 recipients from Rappville, Casion, Wyan, Whiporie and Blaxland Creek. If you are or know of anyone within driving distance of Brunswick Heads who has lost their home please contact the Salvation Army [email protected], phone 02 9466 3565.

14.01.2022 Update: Thank you to everyone that has donated their holiday lets to the project, we have now reached our target of 50. Lots of kind people are offering their homes, however, the ones we can manage have to be official managed holiday lets. Maybe there are other channels people could use to get the word out that their homes are available? We are now needing cash donations and donations of holiday water toys, floaties swimmers, hats. towels etc for our Bruns School R&R Bazaar that will be available every Monday through February. The clothing needs to be new or in pristine condition. Thanks to everyone who has donated. You can drop both cash and clothes etc into the Visitor Centre, 7 Park St, Brunswick Heads, or give us an email at [email protected].
