20.01.2022 Dear Townsville: We will have a pop-up COVID-19 testing clinic located at Strand Park on Monday 20 July, Wednesday 22 July and Friday 24 July this week. On thes...e days, the clinic will be open from 9AM 2PM. Here’s what you need to know: - Our dedicated staff in the pop-up clinics will be wearing all of the necessary personal protective equipment. It won’t win a fashion award but we’re here to make sure you’re safe, not to dress snazzy - You know the symptoms, but in case you’ve had your head in the sand at the Strand: fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose, lack of taste or smell and fatigue are all signs - Get tested, even if it’s mild. You don’t want to be the person who neglects symptoms and finds out when it’s too late - Don’t be complacent; more travel means more chances of contracting COVID-19. If you haven’t escaped the sunny confines of North Queensland that’s fine; however, someone around you or someone you come into contact with may have, so if you’re sick, get tested - This location may change. The pop-up clinic will move in line with demand; however, we will keep everyone updated at ALL time. All updates will be broadcast on our Facebook page. In conclusion; if you’re sick, regardless of how mild, walk in, walk out and wait at home until you’re cleared.

01.01.2022 Daffodil Day. The daffodil is recognised internationally as the symbol of hope for all people affected by cancer. When I was 36 I was diagnosed with a genetic ...cancer. I was lucky to have it diagnosed early, and lucky to have access to modern medicine to be cured with surgery alone. I still have yearly health checks. This is not a post for sympathy. This is a post for awareness: I was young. I was healthy. I led a healthy lifestyle. I was not aware there was a family history - people don’t always share their private and personal battles. (And that’s completely okay too ) I have family, friends and clients who have cancer stories. As a nurse I have cared for people with cancer. Every 4 minutes another Australian is diagnosed with cancer. {Quote Cancer Council} This post is to give hope to anyone hearing the stressful words: You have cancer. If you can investigate a symptom early - whether detected with routine screening or something you notice yourself - you will give yourself the greatest chance of survival. I survived. I want you to survive too. Photograph: single daffodil by Christopher Rowlands, google images #suppelle #daffodilday #cancercouncilaustralia #survivor
