16.01.2022 Take extra precautions if you're in Sydney's West! ------------------------------------------------------ SMH: VIRUS FOUND IN MOSQUITOES IN SYDNEY'S WEST... Ross River virus has been detected in mosquitoes in Sydney's west, with NSW health authorities urging residents to protect themselves against mosquito bites. Mosquito trapping at Deepwater Park in Bankstown and at Sydney Olympic Park identified mosquitoes carrying the virus for which there is no treatment, NSW Health said. The department's environmental health director Richard Broome said while Ross River infection was rare in Sydney, high numbers of mosquitoes at this time of year mean people should be cautious. "The best way to protect yourself is to avoid getting bitten," he said.
