23.01.2022 Our heartfelt gratitude and thanks goes out to the Country Fire Service, National Parks fire units, our Community & Friends who have worked tirelessly for days and nights to fight the KI fires with very limited support, back up or resources. Our property was back burned on the western side to meet the raging fire burning on the north eastern side of our valley. We feel so blessed that most of our hives and infrastructure have survived! We have however lost our orchard, hiv...es, workshop, tools, pumps, tanks and irrigation systems. 20.01.2022 As I was driving into Kingscote yesterday I saw a small flock of Glossy Black Cockatoos flying along the road side. It gave me some hope. Please if you can spare some money, please donate to the recovery of our glossy populations at Nature Foundation SAFires have devastated the populations and critical habitat courtesy of Kangaroo Island NRM. Mary’s mother unfortunately is not with us today, she wrote the Kangaroo Island Honey Cook Book. Mary gave me two of my favourite books which are out of print that I have not been able to access. Truth is I’m always borrowing these two books from the historical library collection as they are some of my favourites. These will remain by my bed side for some time now. Mary it was so lovely to connect with you, I will treasure these books with my family, they will remind me of the time of great despair and how my community managed to lift my spirits to a new level and support me like I’ve never felt before. So much gratitude and love, thank you x
