22.01.2022 The news from Australia is pretty grim at the moment. But it's not the end of the world. Here's a small selection of pics by Echidna Walkabout Nature Tours guid...es over the past few days. We are so proud of our crew who are managing to deal with some pretty raw emotions as parts of Australia we love burn away. Fortunately most of the areas we work in are safe.

17.01.2022 Update from Zoos Victoria's Threatened Species Biologist, Dr Amy Coetsee on the October 11 Eastern Barred Bandicoot release to French Island (first image is a... little NSFW ): "Gestation in Eastern Barred Bandicoots is just 12.5 days. On Monday night the first litter known to be conceived on French Island was found in the pouch of a female." This is a massive step forward for the recovery of this species!!

17.01.2022 Marine turtles, as their names suggest, spend most of their time in sea waters. However, they have to come onto land to nest, where the females dig a nest to de...posit their eggs. Once laid, the eggs are covered and left to incubate. On hatching, the young dig their own way to surface and head immediately for the nearest water. As they are aquatic, they are not capable of swallowing food or mating unless submerged in water. Turtles are one of the most appealing animals of the reptile world, and we love seeing them in their natural habitat. Our next conservation experience will be run in partnership with #FNQnaturetours; we are going to far north Queensland to help with wildlife surveys and encounter amazing animals in the wild. Think ahead and start planning your next holidays. You can enjoy wildlife and help them at the same time. Read more on our website. #conservationtravel #helpwildlife https://buff.ly/2BpwrV1
