24.01.2022 For the past couple of years I have been wondering what Dragon Fruit wine tastes like. Back in June, we started the adventure of wine making. Starting with 2.5kg of Bloodred fruit, water, sugar and a bunch of specific wine making ingredients, it has taken a little over three months to produce 4 bottles and a jug of wine. The taste is "different" but that might be atrributed to the fresh "hot" taste of warm wine . As you can see, the journey was fun, messy and colourful. Hopefully in a day's time, after the wine has chilled, we can stamp our "authority" on Dragon Fruit wine making .

13.01.2022 Here is a time lapse video filmed, on the 27 November 2020, of a Bloodred Dragon Fruit flower blooming into the night in readiness for pollination. Watch to the end to see the Honeybee's in action. Enjoy!

13.01.2022 Just over 2 months ago we were inspired to invest in ourselves and expand on our passion with Dragon Fruit growing. With a current establishment of approx. 400 plants we decided to add an additional 2,000+. As with all things we take on, it was nothing short of a marathon getting the expansion complete. We spent the first month and half every evening, planning, sourcing, prepping cuttings and putting together individual sprinkler heads. Then on the weekends we cleared the all...ocated paddock and set up a main irrigation line, all in preparation for the 1 week we had to complete the mammoth task. It was down to the wire, as our posts arrived just in time for Tony form Fraser Coast Rural Fencing to get them in, in readiness for our week's book leave. The week entailed helping set the last of the 525 posts, before we were able to move over 160 cubic meters of soil & put it in place, run 1.1km of irrigation lines, set 1,050 individual sprinkler heads and then plant 2,100 DF cuttings - WOWERS!!! And we got it all complete in 1 week, I still can't believe it. Oh and did I mention I also started a new job in the midst of that week - like I said we don't do things by halves. Today 3,750kg of mulch arrived, the last little bit of the job to complete, but we'll get it done, that's just how we roll. A huge thank you to family and friends, that not only provided guidance & encouragement, but also a lending hand where possible, from helping with manual labour to making us dinners to keep us going (thanks Mom), we are forever grateful to all. We'd also like to thank the couple of farmhands we were able to engage over the week, they worked their butts off right alongside us, never missing a beat. We are very excited to now see them grow and what this will portends for our future. Cheers Darlene and Allan
