25.01.2022 A friendly reminder to keep your wandering close to home this Easter.

25.01.2022 great to see this. Happy World Environment Day

25.01.2022 Hi folks, Outdoors SA are part of a national task force formulating a response to the devastating fire season we are experiencing, specific to the greater outdoor community.

25.01.2022 Have you heard of the "Take 3 for the sea initiative"? Take 3 is an Australian not-for-profit organisation, founded in 2009 by surfing enthusiast, Amanda Marech...al, marine ecologist, Roberta Dixon-Valk and environmentalist, Tim Silverwood. This inspiring team are committed to reducing plastic pollution and and promoting the transition to a circular economy through education and participation. They simply ask that each time you leave a beach, waterway, or anywhere special, to take three pieces of rubbish with you (or more!). A small difference is a difference all the same - and a great initiative to take on board and pass on when working with others in the great outdoors. For more information, visit https://www.take3.org/

21.01.2022 Feeling stressed out? Go for a walk. The positive effects of a single exposure to nature make us feel happier for up to 7 hours. That means that walking to work... in the morning, or taking the dog for a stroll first thing, can really leave you feeling happier all day. Need some inspiration to find somewhere to walk? 20.01.2022 great news Mr Luke Duncan Mr Andrew Govan Outdoors SA... Dear Mr Duncan and Mr Govan I write to provide an update regarding outdoor education following further advice from SA Health. Small group excursions and camps can now resume for students that are required to undertake these activities as part of their education, such as certain SACE components. Outdoor excursions and camps must observe the following requirements: good hygiene adults must maintain a minimum social distance of 1.5 metres, and have no more than one person per 4-square metres in enclosed spaces students must not attend if they are unwell. Choice of activity should preference single day local excursions and single day outdoor education activities as they present less risk. Camps that involve dormitory accommodation present the highest risk, so we ask that you factor this into your plans when working with our schools and preschools. Risk assessments must be developed prior to camps or excursions taking place. Where applicable, assessment should address but not be limited to the mitigation of risks for the following: circumstances where a child presents with COVID-19 symptoms; identification of the closest hospital for testing; dormitory accommodation considerations, including: o reducing the occupancy to 25% o extra cleaning of bathrooms o managing shared dining areas o food preparation; use of shared equipment some outdoor activities will require single use followed by cleaning, such as safety helmets, particularly the chin strap; camping activities 1 person per tent, individual food preparation and cooking, avoid using tea towels; and transport - hand hygiene and frequent cleaning. Please be mindful that our staff, parents and students have been under immense pressure in responding to COVID-19 while ensuring that learning continues. Please also be mindful of the ongoing challenges facing our school community when reengaging outdoor education and excursions. Although SA Health has said that camps and excursions can resume, it is ultimately the site leader’s decision as to when this can occur. Yours sincerely EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, SYSTEM PERFORMANCE 27 May 2020 we have written correspondence and sent the updated time line and risk documents through for cam programming and are waiting clarification on the grey areas.

20.01.2022 A reminder to be conscious of your impact right now. If you are going to go outdoors, go local and in a very small group. Let's be part of the solution! Take care - see you out there soon!

This has all been updated to the new training package equivalency, with 3 staged online learning process inline with the stages of the training. Thanks to the TAA members who provided feedback at the Jan TAA training evening. Tech Skills is also looking likely to go a head as previously scheduled. Section 12. for sale at https://tinyurl.com/yyfddf48 Describing the Bridgewater Mill: In 1860 a Devonshire entrepreneur, John Dunn, chose Bridgewater for a water mill because Cox’s Creek was reputed to be the only stream to flow all year round. He built dams to ensure flow but had to supplement the water wheel with a steam engine. The wheel, which is still an imposing sight, was manufactured in Scotland and shipped in parts. The mill did well for ten years but wheat growing shifted to the mid north after the resumption of the pastoral empires in the 1870s (see section 36).
