14.01.2022 I had a friend ask me what can we do to help our bees?. There are numerous factors affecting our bee populations, disease & pesticides are the most notable factors, there are some things we can do to help:- 1. Avoid using pesticides and weed killing chemicals as much as possible (Bees forage on flowering weeds). 2. Plant a bee-friendly garden to encourage our pollinators back into suburbia. 3. Host a hive in your own backyard, it doesn’t have to be honey bees, native bee...s are great little pollinators too and they don’t sting! Since I got my beehives our little friends have been hard at work pollinating my fruit trees -they are now producing an abundance of fruit which we didn’t have before their arrival- it was one of the reasons I first started looking into having my own bees - we didn’t have ANY bees at all in our yard at Mount Low, I couldn’t grow my pumpkins & my passion fruit vines weren’t holding their fruit- there were no pollinators left here! 4. Buy honey from your local beekeepers- they are helping to repopulate our environment with these vital creatures. Hope you find the article interesting! https://morningchores.com/save-the-bees/
