23.01.2022 Just an FYI - The Anglesea Community House is soon to host some community consultation sessions, regarding their proposed Farmers Market concept. Get along if you can.

21.01.2022 BATA Supports the Anglesea Eden Concept Business and Tourism Anglesea is excited about the opportunity this concept could deliver to our town and our region. The Eden Project Organisation is a world leader in delivering best practice, environmental experiences throughout the world. ... We see this social enterprise project, which is proposed for Anglesea, delivering many positives: It creates an environmental educational experience, which repairs a degraded area of previously mined landscape and creates a world class product to enhance the Anglesea visitor experience. It provides a possible solution for an issue that is only going to grow ie: Increased visitor numbers. It aims to do this by changing Angleseas visitor behaviour from that of A convenience break on the way to the 12 Apostles to a visitor that comes to Anglesea as a destination and now plans to stop, stay and respect the town. o It will Increase visitor nights to the town ensuring stronger demand all year round, helping to reduce the seasonality. o It will Increase length of stay as result of having a significant attraction in the town - more reason for domestic, interstate and international visitors to stay longer. We recognise that the Eden team and this project will deliver major additional local employment, as well as broader benefit to the local economy, in part, but not solely via their charter to obtain up to 80% of all product locally. We applaud the Eden teams willingness to collaboratively tackle the challenges that will arise with a project of this scope, with the team already thinking about important linkages with the main town of Anglesea, in a way that is environmentally sensitive, highly practical and supportive of businesses in town. By their very nature of being inclusive, they are already positively engaging with a broad range of local community members. The team is demonstrating great respect for our environment and our regions culture by their collaborative engagements. How amazing for our town, our region, our state and our country that we, Anglesea in Victoria, Australia, has been selected for this world class environmental tourism attraction. http://www.edenprojectanglesea.com.au/

05.01.2022 Barwon Water Announcement Today: Anglesea Community Drop in Sessions to be held. Further info below. Anglesea community information sessions: Thursday 25 July, 4pm 7pm Saturday 3 August, 10am 1pm... Tuesday 20 August, 4pm 7pm All sessions will be held at the Anglesea Senior Citizens Club, 1 Macmillan Street, Anglesea. Barwon Water securing the regions water future Barwon Water is continually monitoring and taking action to secure the water supply for the region, following one of the driest starts to the year and an exceptionally hot and dry spring and summer. Geelongs water storages are currently at 41.8%1, about 9 percentage points lower than this time last year. This follows low rainfall at the start of the year (January to March) the lowest received since 2013 and similar to levels experienced during the millennium drought. The Bureau of Meteorology is predicting a drier than average winter for large parts of the country. Barwon Water acting Managing Director Jo Murdoch said Barwon Water and the Victorian Government has made a significant investment in alternative water sources to adapt to the realities of a hotter and drier climate. Rainfall in the Otways is just one part of a broad mix of water sources we will need to use as we adapt to drier conditions and ensure a secure supply of water in all climate scenarios. As part of ensuring water security for the region, Barwon Water is also doing some early work to prepare the Anglesea borefield so that it can be used, if needed, this coming spring and summer. The Anglesea borefield can provide up to 13 million litres of drinking water a day to Anglesea, Aireys Inlet, Torquay, the Bellarine Peninsula, and parts of southern Geelong. The Anglesea borefield is another critical part of our diverse water supply that, if activated, would improve water security in the region, Ms Murdoch said. We appreciate our community may not know a lot about this water source, so we encourage people to drop into an information session in Anglesea to hear more, including the role the borefield plays in our regions water security, and how it would be managed to highest environmental standards, she said. For example, there is an extensive and adaptive environmental monitoring and assessment program in place that collects data about water and the environment. The community will be invited to provide ongoing oversight of environmental monitoring and Barwon Water will publish key data on its website. The management of the Anglesea borefield is very different to the Barwon Downs borefield which was operated and managed under a groundwater licence, was fixed for 15 years and did not include the same stringent measures to protect the environment. The borefield will be activated if water storage levels do not rise to a sufficient level to meet demand over the 2019/2020 summer period.

05.01.2022 For the next two weeks, the centre stairs to the Anglesea Main beach are being replaced. There is no access from either the GOR side or beach. Please use either the ramp down the Life Saving Club end or the riverbank access path. #repairs @greatoceanroadcoastcommittee
