08.01.2022 Keep going Team Victoria! We’ve totally got this. Yes, it’s hard. But we’re doing well and we’re on track. We’ve listened to the experts, we’ve responded to cha...llenges, we’ve asked hard questions, we’ve communicated consistently and clearly and the strategy is working. We’re getting there. Well done Victorians! Has it been perfect? No. And not everyone has agreed, or been happy about hard decisions made in the interests of our community’s health, but we’re showing just what’s possible when we take care of one another. In just a few weeks we’ve taken down new cases from over 700 a day, to under 100. Stay the course and don’t be bullied, distracted or misled by doomscrolling. Yes, this is a shitshow. No one wants it, and we all want it to be over. Instead of creating more anxiety and pain by trying to find every reason to fight it, use your resources to bolster your capacity to cope. Focus your energy towards the people and services who are supporting, nurturing and connecting, and building your resilience rather than inciting fear with conspiracies and disinformation. And gear towards adequate rest, asking for help, seeking out mental health support and practising good hand AND information hygiene habits. Thank you to everyone who is wearing a mask, staying home, is community-minded, and cares for our collective wellbeing. And especially thank you to the RELENTLESS last line of defence health care workers, the ESSENTIAL mental health workers, the INCREDIBLE food and hospitality providers and deliverers, the CRITICAL hygiene professionals, the DEDICATED public servants, and BRILLIANT educators at every level. We are stronger and more resourceful than we give ourselves credit for. We will prevail. We are resilient. And we have each other. #ofkin #melbourne
