24.01.2022 Yesterday, Business Advisor Jerry Hoekman had the pleasure to visit Mandurah House Boats. Jerry was so impressed by the business model and the success of the business. Allan Hill, the owner, gave Jerry the grand tour. After seeing the boats and how hard they work at delivering an excellent service to their clients (whilst having as much fun as possible!), it is clear why they won the runner up at the Peel Business Excellence Awards. It was also great to see their new boat, ...still being fitted out but almost ready for her maiden voyage. This boat is completely built for the accommodation of disabled travellers..such a wonderful and inclusive initative! If you are looking for a great holiday that is different than everything else, have a talk with the crew at the Marina. I can't wait to book one of them myself! @mandurahhouseboats #smallbusiness #boat #boatbusiness #mandurah #mandurahbusiness #mandurahtourism

24.01.2022 There are always ‘gems’ in country towns and this is no exception! The original Collie Bakery still stands, and is located on Throssel St opposite the Visitor Centre. While checking out the ‘inside’ of the bakery, Julie Broad, our Business Advisor on the ground in Collie, looked across to find the original delivery van from the 1860s, still in mint condition and located at the Coalfield Museum. "In Collie, up until 1964 householders had their bread delivered to their homes by... horse and cart. The driver would put several loaves in his basket and deliver them to roughly three houses on one side of the street, and then cross over to the other side and do the same there. The horse knew the route and would just meander along while the driver delivered the bread. It was pretty slow going in those days. The deliveries started around 7:45 am and finished around 4pm." - @visitcollie The bakery is begging for a new owner, a baker and café operator, with the current owners of the house and bakery currently up for lease. They are happy to ‘gut’ the house to make way for an operational café ... sounds like a pretty fun project! @coalfieldsmuseum2018 #collie #colliebakery #smallbusiness #countrybusiness #peel #smallbusinessowner

Yan has made Margeret River her home since 2014 and Little Hand Dumpling Margaret River is Yan's creation. I have loved working with Yan. She was keen to learn about business and so completed training at TAFE. She also sought assistance of Business Advisory SW & Peel to help her open her business and share it with the region. ... How did we help? We looked at a business development plan, discussed branding and strategy, timing, marketing and the importance of consistency. A picture paints a thousand words. Take a look at the video below. If you love dumplings then be sure to try these freshly made morsels from Yan at Little Hand Margaret River (FB).

20.01.2022 Remedial Massage Therapist Melanie Suriani first came to see Business Advisor Sana Turnock about two years ago, when she was establishing herself as a small home-based business in Busselton. She had a dream to create a centre within three years. Mel and Sana would meet and discuss progress on a regular basis. Mel was diligent. She attended numerous BASWP workshops, applied and became a finalist in South West Business Awards, went on to formally study small business at TAFE, ...and has just opened up her new premises in Busselton. In a shorter time frame than she imagined, Mel is achieving her dream. Focus, consistency and persistence. This is what it takes to be in small business. Well done, Melanie! 19.01.2022 This exciting prototype by Jon Rutgers is featured in the innovators section of the Western Australia Museum and could still yet revolutionise backyard cricket as we know it. Scoring disputes can often overshadow the game and this invention could relieve the pain for many groups of friends around the world. This serves as a reminder that our dreams can take time. However with hard work, patience and goal setting they can become a reality. It was great being able to work with Jon and watch his concept grow and develop over time. 12.01.2022 Business Advisory South West and Peel's free services have been a fantastic asset to Nisa from Nisa Sustainability over the last 6 months: "I've worked with Sana to put together a comprehensive business plan and organise my finances. It's been really helpful to have someone guide me through the process of setting up the business, which can feel like a huge task to tackle alone! Sana helped me to define my organisational values and goals, hone my objectives and develop a targe...ted business development plan. She also provided me with excellent contacts along the way. I decided to build my own website using Wix. Jerry very helpfully reviewed the site and provided some excellent feedback and tips. I attended his workshop on search engine optimisation which taught me how to push my page further up Google's search results. I would highly recommend accessing Jerry's services, as digital engagement is so vital in today's economy.
