I know if an employee asks me for a day off to go to a special event involving family I would do everything in my power to allow it. Employers: This is one reason why we need to have 'real' conversations in our workplaces. We want our people to feel confidently able to speak with us.

17.01.2022 If you employ part time you need to know this: Full Federal Court yesterday confirmed that all employees (including part-time employees) are entitled to 10 working days of personal/carer's leave per year under the Fair Work Act, regardless of how many hours the employees work per day or how many days are worked per week. Personal leave is not accrued in hours but days.... This means part-time employees who may work as little as 1 or 2 days per week are also entitled to 10 full working days of personal leave/carer's per year.

It would seem reasonable that this list of responsibilities could be expanded to include the responsibility to ensure their company pays its staff correctly, he said. This would provide the real potential that directors of companies that fail to pay their staff appropriately could lose their position and the ability to hold directorships in the future for a period of time. 08.01.2022 Do you ever take time out of your business for family? I hope the answer is YES. I just spent yesterday and today with my son at the Sunshine Coast. OK so I did do some gardening and cleaning but to hang out with him, to play cool music and sing along as we work was for me darned special. ...
