24.01.2022 As the Government moves to ease #COVID19 restrictions, the BECA #COVIDSafe Guidelines instils confidence that business events are different to other ‘mass gatherings’ so Australia’s #businessevents industry can safely restart as soon as possible. 22.01.2022 BECA is supporting the call for the #businessevents industry and broader community to get vaccinated as quickly as they are able, to support the first stage of the Government’s 4-step national plan and #GiveBEaShot. On Friday, 30 July, National Cabinet agreed in principle to transition Australia’s National COVID-19 Response, providing a pathway forward for the country. Each phase of the plan is triggered by vaccination thresholds and aims to remove restrictions, end lockdowns... and domestic border closures, and recommence international travel all of which are necessary for the business events industry to recover and prosper into the future. https://bit.ly/3fsxrss #businessevents #eventprofs #eventorganisers #meetingprofs #meetingsandevents
16.01.2022 All states and territories have exceeded 50% of 1st doses of COVID-19 vaccinations administered to Australian adults, with NSW and ACT approaching 70%. From a national perspective, 58.7% of people over the age of 16 have had at least one dose, with 35% fully vaccinated. Tasmania and ACT have now passed 40% fully vaccinated. Business events restart, recovery and rebound is in our arms and BECA is supporting the call for the industry and broader community to get vaccinated for ...COVID-19 as quickly as they are able. Transitioning through the phases of the National 4-step plan will end border closures, state-wide lockdowns, remove restrictions, recommence international travel and #GiveBEaShot. To shout out your contribution to achieving the vaccination targets, BECA has developed personal and corporate artwork to encourage everyone to #GiveBEaShot. 15.01.2022 BECA Chair Dr Vanessa Findlay will join MEA's global panel to continue the discussion towards the recovery of the #businessevents industry.
14.01.2022 BECA has welcomed a lifeline with #JobKeeper supporting almost every business in the #businessevents industry. The results of an industry-wide survey released yesterday have shown over 110,000 employees across the industry have been supported by the wage subsidy. BECA Chair Dr. Vanessa Findlay said "Thank you to the BECA members and the wider business events industry for participating in the Future Confidence and JobKeeper Impact survey, which provides a very strong evidence...-base for our work with government. Understanding the impact of current government support and industry’s ongoing pressure points ensures that we can deliver the best possible outcomes during this incredibly challenging time. #meetingprofs #eventprofs #eventorganisers https://bit.ly/39jqZjv
09.01.2022 Australian Bureau of Statistics data has confirmed the extreme shutdown of Australia’s international #businessevents industry with short-term visitors arriving in April 2020 whose main reason for travel was to attend a convention or conference recorded as zero. With Australia’s borders still closed, this picture is unlikely to change for some time, and represents the devastating impact of the #COVID19 pandemic on the #businessevents industry and jobs. https://bit.ly/2BaV1ZE
08.01.2022 On Monday, representatives of BECA met online with the Hon Dan Tehan MP, Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment to plead for targeted support for businesses reliant upon income from business events. BECA Deputy Chair, Geoff Donaghy stated, Survival of the complete visitor and events supply chain is our number one priority, along with maintaining their skilled workforce. If we are to be match fit for domestic recovery and deliver global best practice to our international ...clients for which we are recognised when the border reopens, retaining our people is essential. BECA has called for an urgent bundle of targeted measures as a lifeline addressing: SURVIVAL, CONFIDENCE & RECOVERY. #GiveBEaShot

06.01.2022 This week #Australia achieved a 51% #vaccination rate of adults receiving their 1st dose with almost 30% fully vaccinated. We are well on track to 70% as a key first step towards #businessevents recovery. It was great to see Tourism Australia and Business Events Australia back the Business Events Council of Australia's campaign to #GiveBEaShot in combination with their "It's our best shot for events" promotion.
